Guest guest
Om Sri Krishna!!! Dear Beloved Family, Today is Krishna's birthday! He took birth at mid-night in a jail cell -- He who came to remove bondages of all beings, took birth in captivity - Isn't God funny? How can we celebrate? :-) We can chant Krishna's names - or sing "Hare Krishna, hare Krishna..." all day and night long. Many people celebrate His birthday at midnight. They fast the whole day and sing and dance in the evening and break the fast with His prasad. It is a lot of fun to chant the Bhagavad Gita and/or read from the Srimad Bhagavatam while we are waiting for Him to come. The prasad that we offer to Krishna almost surely will have lots of butter and milk! People make pudding, milk treats, sweet dishes with sugar, flour and milk and also crunchy- munchies! When we were young, we used to keep all the sweets by the altar and draw little feet from the door to the altar - there is so much joy in anticipating His arrival! I pray He arrives soon and blesses us by dwelling in our heart-temples for ever and ever! Jai Sri Krishna! Jai Govinda Gopala Murari!!! Happy Janmashtami everybody! ramya :-)
