Guest guest
Namaste; I couldn't locate any Sub-commentary on Sahnkara on Gita but the following is the only one available and it is on Brahma Suutra. Sri Subhanu Saxena a great advaitin scholar has in one of his postings at the Advaita-L postings has explained about the Sub- commentary of Sankara Bhashya written by Swami Satchidanandera Saraswati. This work is not a sub-commentary on Sankara Bhasya on Gita but on Brahma Suutra. Those interested may access the following links – the first one specifically on the above referenced posting. The second link is a detailed compilation of Sri Subhanu's advaita- related postings at advaita-L list. Sri Subhanu articulates his points well and I strongly recommend the interested members to read his works. http://www.advaita-vedanta.org/archives/advaita-l/1998- September/010104.html http://www.geocities.com/ambaal_daasan/bsb/ab-saxena.txt Warmest regards, Ram Chandran advaitin, "Vinayaka" <vinayaka_ns wrote: > > > Dear Advaitins, > > Can anybody give me the book name and the publisher name of the above > mentioned work? > > JAI JAI RAGHUVEER SAMARTHA > > Yours in the lord, > > Br. Guest guest
Namaste Br. Vinayaka -ji, This may not directly answer your question but the Gita Supersite has available o-line a large number of well-known commentaries on the Gita with the original Sanskrit text. I believe one of the last 2 commentaries on the list, either Sri Neelkanth or Sri Dhanpati is a sub-commentary/gloss on the Shankara Bhasya. will try and confirm in the next day or so. regards Sundar Rajan http://www.gitasupersite.iitk.ac.in/ Mool Slokas [sanskrit Verses] of the Bhagavadgita Hindi translation - Swami Ramsukhdas Hindi translation - Swami Tejomayananda English translation - Swami Gambhirananda English translation - Dr. S Sankaranarayan English translation - Swami Sivananda Sanskrit Commentary - Sri Abhinavagupta English translation of Sri Abhinavagupta's Sanskrit Commentary - Dr. S Sankaranarayan Sanskrit Commentary - Sri Ramanuja English translation of Sri Ramanuja's Sanskrit Commentary - Swami Adidevananda Sanskrit Commentary - Sri Sankaracharya Hindi translation of Sri Sankaracharya's Sanskrit Commentary - Sri Harikrishandas Goenka English translation of Sri Sankaracharya's Sanskrit Commentary - Swami Gambhirananda Hindi Commentary - Swami Chinmayananda Hindi Commentary - Swami Ramsukhdas English Commentary - Swami Sivananda Sanskrit Commentary - Sri Anandgiri Sanskrit Commentary - Sri Jayatirtha Sanskrit Commentary - Sri Madhvacharya Sanskrit Commentary - Sri Vallabhacharya English translation - Swami Adidevananda Sanskrit Commentary - Sri Madhusudan Saraswati Sanskrit Commentary - Sridhara Swami Sanskrit Commentary - Sri Vedantadeshikacharya Venkatanatha Sanskrit Commentary - Sri Purushottamji Sanskrit Commentary - Sri Neelkanth Sanskrit Commentary - Sri Dhanpati regards Sundar Rajan advaitin, "Vinayaka" <vinayaka_ns wrote: > > > Dear Advaitins, > > Can anybody give me the book name and the publisher name of the above > mentioned work? > > JAI JAI RAGHUVEER SAMARTHA > > Yours in the lord, > > Br. The above two are sub- commentaries. The former, although Advaitic cannot be said to be totally based on The Acharya's commentary. But the latter, called as it is: Bhaashyotkarsha-dIpikA, is a gloss bringing out the greatness of the Acharya's Bhashya. Both of them are in Sanskrit and i do not think an English/Kannada (which would help Br.Vinayaka ji) Translation of these are ever made. To my understanding, the Kannada translation of the Acharya's Bhashya (complete sentence-by-sentence translation with foot notes) is that of Sri Sachidanandeshwara Saraswati SwaminaH of Holenarasipur is a good one. Perhaps the only authentic Shankara bhashya in Kannada. It is a publication of Adhyatma Prakasha Karyalaya, Bangalore, and Holenarasipur. I do not know if Swami Adidevananda or some other Swami has translated the Bhashya in Kannada from the Ramakrishna Order. Kindly check. Namaste, Kindly read the name of the Author as ' Sri Sachidanandendra Saraswati Swaminah'. The error is regretted.
