Dear All,

I have not studied other philosophies besides dvaitavad. I have some

idea about the goals of the different sampradayas, but the JIVA TATTVA

is what I'm interested to hear and learn from those who know other

philosophies. If every one wrote and sent in their respective version

of Jiva Tattva, according to their own Sampradaya, then we would have

a nice library on Jiva Tattva. After all, aside from Jiva tattva,

talismans and sacred objects have no meaning. I'm seriously interesed

to further my limited knowledge of Vedanta, and know the different angles.

For example, what is JIVA TATTVA according to:

Advaitavad

Astanga Yoga

Bhakti

Shivism

Shaaktism

Aghori

Karmavad

Nastic

Jain

Sikh

Radhaswomi

TM

and any other I don't know about...

I hope this will increase my knowledge because all members here can

teach me so much. I love to hear it.

Best rgds,

Richard

Pranam,

Beautiful thoughts. I wish to narrate a story of my childhood.

I was in my eight grade and as usual had gone to meet my mentor. I

knocked the door.... as usal and he allways knew the times when used

to come and bother him :-) but today he as in a very naughty mood

and he yelled .... Whose it? and i said 'Jay' and he opened the door

and asked "Are you sure???" and like that silly eigth grader.. i

giggled. But he with his ever inspiring smile continued to gaze in

my eyes... and some how a serenity crept over me. My mind started to

open like a sun flower opening up to the sun seeking the divine rays

of grace.

My mentor has his own ways and a few days later... i chanced upon

shankaracharyas Nirvana shatkam... and i ran to him just as i read

it and said... i know who i am! and he giggled and said "Pray,

pronounce:" And i came out with Aham Nirvakalpo Nirarkara Rupo...

Blah Blah.. i had memorised it to impress him with my new found

knowledge :-) and he smiled.

And when he smiles that particular smile... i think or he makes me

think. He sort of pulls my mind to direction he wants to. And i

said, i am not sure. And i asked him what do the shastras say? And

he said so you are what other define? So i asked him Gnan yoga... is

it not a way to reach that Vaikuntha? Nirvana? Nirvikalpa smadhi?

And he asked me who told you that there is a place called vaikuntha?

did you meet someone from there?

Well in the years to come i know who i am. I am someone in search

for that answer? Who I am? 40 days of fasting doesnt give it to you.

Gnana yoga doesnt but does quicken the process... perhaps. Karma

yoga lessens the misery of being lost. Well for know i look for

vaikutha in my work. Hatha yoga to keep me healthy and moving so

that i perform my karmas well. Bhakti Yoga to open up myself for

that divine grace. And hoping that one day i will find out who i am

and what is jivatma.

Yes philosophies are interesting but they are to cryptic to

understand. What i feel over the years.... is that no samradaya or

no religion has the answer. Why? cause it cant be put in words. Its

only for us to one day realise.

Well perhaps not what your question is that i answered. But yes.. my

thoughts i did reflect on Jivatma.

Cheers,

Jay

the jiva must have direct experience with the light

and sound behind the tenth gate or third eye.One must

be initiated by a living guru .One is directly hooked

up so to speak wit the naam( the inner sound) and

light by repeating internal particluar mantra only

given during inititation. All the other chakras below

the third eye are considered not as valid or invalid

for getting off the wheel. Direct experience must be

achieved behind the third eye.The more one has directe

xperience , the more ones karma is purified, the

closer one gets to getting off the wheel of

samsara.THe Sant that initiates you is your Guruji

who if you dont achieve moksh in one particular

lifetime will not abandon you in the next. there is no

ritual, statues, .One must meditate, be vegan, adhere

to ahimsa. In the end(so to speak) ones soul merges

with Radha Soami soul of the lord the big kahuna way

beyond the dissolution of brahma. And if the BIg Kauna

wills it you return to help everyone else who has not

gotten it yet. you can read the sar bachan and even

baba faqir chand. i hope i have shed some light (so to

speak)
