Guest guest
Dear all: For those of you who have not seen this photograph of a fire rainbow, I invite you to check it out: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/06/060619-rainbow-fire.html This last Tuesday as I drove to teach my early 6am class, I was touched by the sky waking up with the early morning light. The clouds were first feathery and light gray on the sky background. It gave me a feeling of being in love, my heart opened up so big. These feathery gray clouds were beautiful in a way that . . . I can only say this: my body felt it as a gift. And as I drove some more, I saw that a line of pink light was touching some of the feathery clouds and then I could not hold it any more I had tears of exquisite joy. As though spirit was having a party of what's most essential in the whole world and I was given to be a witness of it and to experience it. . . Words don't usually fail me. I always think, if there is an experience I can describe it. Here it was grace but not just out there in the sky because whatever was happening out there was also touching me in here, in me and my heart. The words that came bursting out of my mouth were: "Love is coming! Thank you! Thank you!" Dan Millman in Way of the Peaceful Warrior reminds us that there are no ordinary moments. . . So as soon as I present to you these images of exquisite beauty, the next thought is every moment can be as powerful in exquisite beauty or in ugliness, whether it is in the simple flower you planted a seed for weeks ago, or whether it is in the news we are bombarded with about the Middle East. . . but in beauty and ugliness we meet our infinity. . . that's all there is! Because in ugliness is the seed for the beauty everyone is craving for. . . so look for the seed, it wants so much to be watered, supported, loved! This morning in my meditation I started to feel that what religions call God is really something that created itself into everything and continues to create and create and we are all a part of this dance. There is nothing that is not God. That's why people can have a spiritual experience with anything: a lover, nature, a piece of creative work. It does not matter! We cannot escape it! We are in it and a part of it. As soon as we say: "this is good!" or "this is bad!" we take our self out of it. We miss it. We welcome misery due to the separation. Everything wants to be embraced and loved and, in return, guess what happens. . . Blessings, Awtar
Guest guest
Dear Awtar, Thanks for your beautiful message about your early morning experience! I would have to say that in this case also, words did not fail you! Your last paragraph immediately brought to mind a signature phrase of my first teacher. He constantly urged his students not to categorize & thus limit themselves by thinking & saying, "I AM this" . . . "I'm NOT that", etc. He encouraged us to de-limit by saying that there isn't this, that or the other thing; "There is only Life. And you are a part of Life, not apart from Life."
