Dear members

Many of us are suffering by various vatic pains such as spondilytis,

back pains, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, rheumatism, swellings,

pains in palm, thighs, calf muscle area etc. Chemicals, bad posture,

wrong diet etc are many reasons often given for these problems. While

mainstream medicine offers surgery for each and every problem in above

category, our member friend Shri S. M. Acharya has some exercises as

answer for A to Z of Vatic pains rooted in spine. But is it not

necessary to eliminate root cause?

Have you ever thought that the very computer which helps communicate

all of us could be the root cause of these many problems. Most of us

use PC for our livelihood or internet surfing. While in recent past

author's friend had sent a file titled 20-20-20 for easing computer

generated eye-strain and fatigue, he has studied that many of the

posture and spine related problems arise from bad configuration of

computer and its furniture. Author names this generic disease as

computergenesis, to rhyme with iatrogenesis: disese generation by

modern medicine.

This friend has sent a photo album of how we shuld configure our

computer furniture, relative placement of parts and surroundings. The

photos are stored in album 'computergensis' and are self explainatory.

Nip your pains in the bud by styling your computer configuration properly.

Author thanks this friend for this help to our members. Honey.pps file, WatanMeraIndia file was also his contribution.

Dr. Bhate's comments are very relevent and should be taken to heart.

There is another issue that many have mentioned to me - it seems that

many people develop a type of reactive state from communicating with

people in the Internet. Several friends have said that when

communicating with negative people in the Internet they develop rapid

heart rate and anxiety states. One friend said that after one of these

encounters he is not able to sleep that night because of being

over-stimulated. I think this explains the behavior of many people one

might meet in the Internet who's reactions seem to be irrational and

inappropriate.

It is important for us to counteract the stresses of setting for long

time at the computer with balancing practices. Also sensitive people

should avoid getting into negative interactions with people who have

mental disorders - there is nothing to be gained and much stress can

be the result. I believe that some people are addicted to this

hyperstimulation and they go around in the Internet looking for

someone to confront - these are adrenaline addicts - do not let

yourself fall into this habit it is very harmful to your mental and

physical health.

One habit that must be broken and that is holding the breath when

becoming anxious or stressed - if you notice anxiety developing when

communicating with others - go immediatly to the breath and slightly

deepen it and make the breath slower. If the mental state is anxiety

then emphasize the inhalation - if the mental state is confusion or

poor thinking then emphasize the exhalation - if it is a mixed state

then take deeper equal inhalations and exhalations. This new world we

live in is exciting and interesting but we must learn how to manuver

in it with calm nature otherwise it might make us sick just setting

there in front of our computers.
