Dear Vistiji,

Namaskar. Your kind words are more important to me than any other certificates I can get. I want to sincerely thank you for encouragement.

Yes. Sometimes too many planets are qualifying as marriage giving mahadashas and as you suggested my next goal is to come up with additional requirements that will disqualify some of the planets and reduce the number of marriage giving mahadashas.

With Regards,

Pratap

Dear Pratap, Namaskar

I applaud your work. It is the work of a true astrologer. What is the use of knowing soo many antara dasas which can give marriage if you cannot find the mahadasa? It is because of the mahadasa that some marriages seem to be delayed until their fourties, yet soo many eligable antaradasas will pass. This is thinking like a true dedicated astrologer and for this i give you utmost respect.

I was also taught in similar lines regarding the dasa of marriage. The planet must have some link to the second house, as marriage is really the expansion of the family, or creation of new family. This applies not only to the mahadasa but also the antara dasa. Problem here rises that this will usually match the time of meeting the partner, and not always the time of marriage.

Now, a next step in this work is fine-tuning which of the planets associated with the second house/lord will give the marriage, and which ones will not. Continue the good work.

Best wishes,

Re: [Om Krishna Guru] Pratap's Rule for Marriage Maha Dasha

Dear Mr. Nair,

By no means, my objective was to precisely time the marriage. I agree that MD period is quite long and one would need to find right antar and pratayantar dasa to come with a reasonable time frame. First let us see if we can confidently identify a MD. I have some idea about the way to identify antar dasa. But I do not want to focus on that right now.

I am sure there are already many existing and successful methods to time the marriage. Consider this just an addition.

2. In most cases more than one MD will qualify for marriage. One has to look at the remaining qualified MD's and the age of the native. A qualified MD may not necessarily give marriage. I just saw a query where the person is not likely to get married for next 8 years because the current MD does not qualify for marriage. (of course assuming that this rule works).

Thanks for your input,

Regards,

Pratap

Dear Pratap,

I believe the 2nd lord has to be from UL and not from Lagna. Guru Sanjayji has elaborately explained this topic in his class on UL (Audio).

Moreover, pinpointing dasa of a planet is too large a period, say the shortest dasa period is of Sun (6 years) and predicting marriage even in this 6 years period will be too vague.

We would need to close in with AD, PD and even SD for a clear prediction of marriage timing.

Dear Gurujans and Members,

After reviewing quite a few charts with a objective of being able to find a simple and unambigous method of finding a vimsottari maha dasha when the marriage can take place, I have been able to formulate a rule which I am presenting below with supporting data. It is working with almost 95% of the charts I have examined (data presented here is only a sample). In 5% of the cases where the rule did not work, I have doubts about the birth data and the ascendant. If this rule gets approval from senior astrologers, it can be used to rectify the ascendant in case of married natives.

I am so excited that I could not wait to keep checking against more charts. All of the charts I examined were prepared using lahiri ayanamsa. I have a feeling that charts prepared using other commonly used ayanamsa may also comply with the rule.

I would like to dedicate this work to Shri Sanjay Rathji who has contributed so much to vedic astrology, hoping that he would not mind me doing so. My collection and reading of astrology classics is limited and therefore I ask for forgiveness if a similar idea has already been proposed in vast astrology literature and classics.

Pratap's Rule for Marriage Maha Dasha:

"Marriage can take place only in vimsottari maha dasha of 2nd lord or a planet aspecting 2nd house or 2nd lord by graha/rasi drishti (includes conjunction)"

Listed below is a sample of data I have verified the rule against. I do not want to identify the natives and therefore I have given only the data that is necessary for someone to create a chart and verify the rule.

I am hoping that senior astrologers will test the rule against a random set of charts in their collection and provide some feedback. Any comments positive or negative are welcome.
