Guest guest
Dear Family, Namaste! Thanks for all the fine discussion on goals and God's will. It really helped clarify our thinking. Thank you! Swamiji said that one of the most important scriptures to help set goals is Sadhana Panchakam. We have a slide show on shreemaa.org which has the sanskrit and english translation of Sadhana Panchakam and Swamiji speaking the translation. You can find it at: http://www.shreemaa.org/drupal-4.7.3/node/635 Can you please read it and share a goal or two that speaks to your heart and the sankalpa one can take to acheive such a goal. Very eagerly looking forward to hearing from you! Jai MAA! srini
Guest guest
Dear Sriniji! Thanks! The goal "Make renunciation of the many thoughts of the mind" of Sadhana Panchacam is very important. It is alike In the book Kashyapa Sutra (sutra 15) Maa said: "always remain awake, alert. This is a form of purifying austerities" We need to give to attention our actions because our mind is always in the past or the future and so we have many thoughts wandering. Unhappyly I do not speek English and I do not explain better . With love Kalachandra Rangan Srinivasan <srini_sadhu > escreveu: Dear Family, Namaste! Guest guest
Namaste: Goal: Merging with the highest Divinity/ Self Realization/ God realization Sankalpa: I will meditate 30 min twice daily. I will do svadhyaya (satsanga with scriptural texts - bhagvatam, bhagavad gita, yoga vasista, I AM THAT, chandi, learn meanings of mantras from lalita sahasranamam, trisati, kadgamala storams) daily for 30 minutes. Guest guest
Namaste Kalachandra, Raghu and Everybody, Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on Sadhana Panchakam. I tried to make a list of the different actions suggested by Sankaracharya and found that we can classify these in three categories: (a) Specific actions we can do to help reach our goal Maintain satsang Sit down and contemplate Supreme Divinity Serve and learn from Masters Listen to wisdom of vedas Study words of wisdom Follow systems of worship from Scriptures Worship Supreme lord Search soul for true knowledge Contemplate wisdom (b) Things to not engage in and/or renounce Don't contemplate adverse desires Wipe out sin Search for faults in worldly pleasures Renounce attachments Renounce fruits of your labors Stay away from bondages of the soul Renounce many thoughts Renounce egotism Don't debate idle philosophy Don't seek company of pleasure seekers Don't do worthless speech Don't look for grace of other men or seek anything from them © Attitudes/Bhava to maintain and Actions that go with them Attitudes Maintain attitude -- I am one with God. Take refuge with devotion in Supreme Divinity Befriend the universe Be content Remain the same in pleasure and pain Overall Actions Act in accordance to the words of wisdom Carry yourself as a great renunciate Take refuge in wisdom Thoughts -- Free your mind with strength of wisdom Experience prarabdha and then go to God See bondage of gross world on soul and reduce need for action in the world The category © seems to be the end-state we want to reach and (a) and (b) help us to get there. Kalachandra - i too feel that it would be great to be free from thoughts and the mind and here we learn that we can do so with strength of wisdom. How do we get this wisdom? Through satsang, studying and contemplating and applying! Guess its time to open the books! Thank you so much for sharing! Thank you Raghu for your inspiration to all of us. I pray that Divine Mother helps us to reach Her step-by-step holding our hands and pointing to the goal. Thank you! Guest guest
Wow! That's great ramya! Sometimes looking at s acripture like this, with things placed in categories and in different orders can really help amplify the meaning. I really enjoyed reading this. It's kind of like a sutra. Guest guest
I will learn to chant the Chandi direct from Devanagari by making a sankalpa to learn a few letters every day and once i know them, to start doing a couple of slokas a day. I will learn one sloka a week of several Chandi sections until I know them by heart. Guest guest
Namaste Gauri, Victory to you ! You will probably find that it won't be long before you are reciting the whole Chandi from the Devanagri. It seems like you have a good plan. It's great to use Swami Ji's book for this, because if you are chanting and you are unsure about a letter, it's easy to glance down at the romanized words to check yourself. Swami says the devanagri letters are like little yantras. It's a great joy ! Good luck !
