Guest guest
Namaste Friend: Welcome to our group it be great to hear that mine Mother kali has connected with you and that she bestow blessings to you...may we be of any assistance to you...please to ask and one of us here maybe able to assist you.... Jai Kali Ma Jah'vi --> Tyra: I was raised Catholic. Have been going to Baptist church for years, especially since my hubby has become a Christian minister. However, for the last 9 years, I have been on a spiritual journey back to the realization that I am Goddess cloaked in flesh. I have been studying the teachings of African, Native American and Buddhist traditions. REally, I study whatever resonates most with me so I have looked at it all. Here lately I am really into the science of manifestation nd yoga. I am one who is into understanding the Feminine aspect of God, the Goddess and have been immersed in those studies also. REally, it is these studies that have lead me to learn so much about the Universe and how it works. One night I was surfing the net and found a picture of Kali coupled with a poem that contained her mantra (or one of her mantras) Kali Ma. Om Kali. Kali Ma. The picture was called birth of a Goddess and it and the mantra enthralled me. I had been chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo prior to finding this picture and knew that there was something in that mantra that would open the deeper mysteries within me. I feel that the deeper mystery that was opened was Kali. I am truly in the midst of transformation and Kali is the one who is this process. I have no idea where I am going with this and look forward to connecting with Kali's energy more. Thanks so much to you and everyone who have welcomed me. please let's stay in touch! Peace and Love Tyra
Guest guest
As someone who was born Catholic, you may appreciate (or dislike, depending on your views) the thought in many eastern cultures that have been exposed to Christianity and Catholocisim in particular, that the Virgin Mary is just another form/incarnation of the Beloved Mother Goddess. I personally have always liked Her, though I was never Catholic or really a practicing Christian (I did go to a Catholic school for Kindergarten). So I personally have a bit of affection for Her in the Virgin Mary form and have considered a few times putting Her statue on my alter, but have never found the "perfect" one. =) Jai Ma! -Katie ______________________ Check out AOL.com today. Guest guest
Katie! I can most certainly appreciate your prespective! It is funny but I believed in her so much as a Catholic girl. Many people dislike the Catholic Church for various reasons. Being Catholic in Mississippi really made me a freak. But despite the controversy, I am SO glad that my father insisted that we be raised in the tradition that he believed in so much because it helped me to embrace views that are foreign to many protestant Christian faiths. So I say that to say that it is no coincidence that I was raised in this church where it was a very good thing to have a connection to the Goddess. I most certainly still see Mary as one of the names by which the Goddess is called. Have you read the mists of Avalon? The author of that book did a good job of showing how the mysteries of the Goddess were hidden within the concept of Mary. Also in that book it talks about the different 4 faces of the Goddess. I know that traditionally there is said to be 3 faces. My friend pointed out that this book stated that there was possibly a fourth face. But as I come into my relationship with Kali, I know realize that Kali is not some separate deity of the Goddess. She IS the Goddess! That was a major revelation for me. I wonder what the good Catholics would think if they could see the Kali side of Mary? I just have to chuckle at the thought. Your points are well taken and totally resonate with me. I too have thought about finding a Mary statue. My mother, Goddess rest her soul, was a Mary devotee. I may steal her statue from my father's house. teehee Have a wonderful day! Guest guest
Hello, It is good to hear that others see the Kali side of Mary. When I think of the way Mary is depicted, and her demeanor I can FEEL the grace and wisdom of her, which is how I feel the energy of Kali. I thought to myself after I began to feel Kali's presence, that surely Mary is just a westernized version of the Goddess. What beauty of Being! Thanks for writing your thoughts, it was nice to read them. Looking forward to more. Celesst
