History of this Advaitin Mailing List:

 

As advaitins, we all accept the undeniable fact that

this list belongs to the Brahaman. The manifested

Brahman in the form of the list members and list

moderators provide the unity within the diverse mind.

 

The original list started during June 1998 at

http://www.coolist.com. There were about a dozen

founding members and most of them are current members

of the moderating board. On 31st of August, the list

moved to which merged with the

.

 

Currently we have 1471 members and the list archive

contains close to 33,000 articles comprising of almost

all aspects of advaita philosophy. The upgraded

search engine at the archive site

(advaitin) has facility

to conduct author/keyword/subject search and members

should make use of this resource to find answers for

their questions.

 

The success of this list can only be measured by how

it serves its members or vice-versa, how the members

serve the list. The list is truly blessed with

scholars with humility and a good command of

communication skills. The list always looks for ideas

and comments to improve its service to the humanity

and please feel free to send your comments to

advatins . Your comments will be read by all

moderators and appropriate changes and corrections

will be implemented on a continual basis.

Dear List Moderators and Members:

 

I joined the list in January 1999 and it has been a great blessing to

me. I don't know Sanskrit and so my life has been immensely enriched by

reading and reflecting on the brilliant insights and wisdom of the

members. Reading the depth and eloquence of many of the posts fills my

heart so much that gratitude spontaneously pours out for all my gurus

here. There are not many lists where Vedantic scholars of such high

caliber are present who have devoted their life to the contemplations of

the great truths of the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita and so many of

our sacred scriptures. All the ideals of Hinduism at its most noble are

present here and provide me with much warmth and comfort.
