Dear Kumari ~ when I read this, it gave me a wonderful feeling. Is that odd? It reminds me very much of what Don Juan was always telling Carlos Castenada (series of books, a long time ago). He would say varying things with the same basic message, such as (paraphrase) one should live one's life as though Death were right at his/her shoulder. This may sound scary, but none of us knows when our time will come, and if we can truly live with this in mind, it can help us, I believe, tremendously in our sadhana. It can help us in treating others well, regardless of how they treat us (and believe me, this is one I'm struggling with right now in a big way). It can help us know that our every thought, word and deed matters. You are right; religion is not for the faint hearted.
