Dear Family,

Namaste!

This is a great week to discuss Puja! Please share you thoughts, questions, and

experiences!

Questions on Puja that came up from the online class and Swamiji's answers to them are

below:

Sincerely,

srini

1. When and how do we go to formless worship from puja, which apparently looks like

worship of form?

When we perform the japa, we begin as separate from the deity, and ultimately we merge

with the deity and become one - from form to the formless.

2. What will be the percentage of time spent on puja everyday, while we have to honor

other responsibilities like work, family etc.

As much as circumstances allow.

3. How to gauge one's progress, objectively.

The ease with which we can sit in our asana is an objective criteria. The rest is subjective.

The only way we can sit comfortably is by not thinking about the body.

4. Question on Prana Pratishta: Is there any other material which would help to understand

more the nature of what it is that has been enlivened in a murti?

Once we establish the life force within a murti, that deity takes on any characteristics we

wish to ascribe to it. Each murti definitely has a personality of its own, and will certainly

advise us in the decision making processes if consulted. But even more...

A deity is a container of consciousness whose sole and exclusive purpose in manifestation

is to become a container of our love and devotion. As we sit with that form of divinity on a

regular basis, we get the opportunity to fill'er up, to put more love and more generosity in

to our container, and the murti acts like a bank.

Whenever we are feeling low, we can go to the bank and withdraw from our deposits. The

murti becomes a love bank, a being with whom we can share all the bhava, all the joy, and

all the secrets of our hearts.

Wow!

Swamiji's sharing of his experience of murtis was not only

interesting, it was beautiful and inspiring.

Jai Maa!
