Guest guest
Dear All, Today is the beginning of Pitri Paksh, the fortnight dedicated to the worship of one's departed ancestors. It culminates in Mahalaya Amavasya on the 22nd. The autumn Navaratri will begin on the 23rd. What can we do during these 15 days to honor our departed ancestors? We can chant these mantras - see the Pitri mantras at http://www.shreemaa.org/drupaldocs/Tarpan_Viddhi.pdf <http://www.shreemaa.org/drupaldocs/Tarpan_Viddhi.pdf> and as Swamiji says "at least we can offer a flower, or a flower, water and sesame seeds with these mantras every day. On the 22nd we will perform the Shraddha and Tarpan. That is a longer puja which has not yet been published. If you want to send us the names of your departed relatives, we can add it to our puja list here in the Mandir. You will want to offer some dakshina in their honor as well. " If you would like to include the names of your departed ancestors in the list prayed for at the Mandir, please send an email to _prayer_club <_prayer_club > with "Shraadh" on the subject line, and list out the names of the departed ancestors that you would like to be prayed for. Please send in your information by the 20th Sept 2006 5 pm PST. Jai Maa Nanda
