Dear All,

I was reading Sadhu Om's translation of Naan Yaar, and I came upon

this, right at the beginning. It stopped me with such force that I

haven't been able to proceed further.

All of you must be familiar with it, but something about Bhagavan's

replies (it seems to be a recording of His verbatim) that is so, so

illuminating.

"The first question asked by Sri Sivaprakasam Pillai was, "Nan Yar?"

(Who am I?), to which Bhagavan replied, "Arive nan", which means

"Knowledge alone is I", the Tamil word "arivu" being approximately

equivalent to the Sanscrit word "jnana" or the english word

"knowledge". Sivaprakasam Pillai then asked, "What is the nature of

(this) knowledge?", and Sri Bhagavan answered, "Arivin swarupam

sat-chit-anandam" (The nature of this knowledge is

existence-consciousness-bliss)."

Yours In Bhagavan,

Nandu
