Guest guest
Namaste All, I came across this group in Directory and quickly registered myself into it. I have been following advaita discussions in various websites and groups and came across Ramana Maharshi and his teachings in every advaita talks. I became curious to know him more and understand him more. I like to place my experience and request learned members of the group to comment on the same.Just a couple of months ago, I had a dream, which made a deep impact in my life, being a novice in advaita, I had learned that - a dream is just a ripple created by the mind through preceptions in waking state.Knowing this, the answer to my dream remains unanswered and still lurks in my thoughts. I know not whether this dream would make any sense to ask people to comment on it, any way I am just doing it. In my dream, Ramana Maharshi had once visited my home and was sitting on a wooden plank laid on the ground, cross legged and harbouring a cloth on his lap. He was leaning forward towards the plaintain leaf relishing the dosas prepared by my mother. I happen to enter my home as usual after my days work and was shocked and overjoyed to see him. I came forward to his seat and with all my humbleness requested him, "When do you make me one like you?" .... He remained silent for a while and replied - "You are earning one rupee now and have to continue earning 7 rupees - until then you will not come" - I stood puzzled, not querying on what he meant, I quickly told him - "It might take a lot of time, I will be late", he said "No, You will not be late". On repeatedly asking him the same question, he remained silent. I know not what he meant by 7 rupees, I know definetely it has nothing to do with monetary status.Does this dream has any spiritual meaning or is it just a dream? -- namaste, gopinath panduranga
Guest guest
Hello Gopinath, Here is an excerpt from the book "Sri Ramana Vijayam" by Sri Suddhananda Bharati in Tamil. (published 1932 by Sri Ramanasramam) ***************************************** In 1908-09 Subramania Mudaliar considered that feeding the Sadhus was the greatest Seva and did it regularly. Every day he got the bhiksha reach Brahmana Swami and his 'shishya's. ....Seshadri Swami wished somehow to turn away Mudaliar from the worldly attachments towards Divinity. In 1910, when Brahmana Swami was in Mamarathu Guhai (mango tree cave) Seshadri Swami went there. Mudaliar was also present then. Seshadri Swami looked at Mudaliar and said. " My brother (Sri Ramana) gets 10,000 rupees salary. I get 1000 rupees. Why can't you get atleast 100 rupees? " Salary means Spiritual wealth. ...... Seshadri Swami habitually speaks metaphorically. Here it is worth noting thow much he valued Sri Ramana Maharshi's spiritual power and grace. **************************** notes: "Atma Selvam" is translated here as "spiritual wealth". If someone knows a better word, please feel free to post. Guest guest
Thanks Mr.Ramasamy, the excerpt shared by you, gives the clear understanding to what the rupees here stand for.It signifies the spiritual wealth not the material wealth. However, something in the back of my mind says 7 stands for some spiritual meaning. What you say?? namaste, Gopinath Panduranga RamanaMaharshi, "r_ramasamy" <rramasamy wrote: > > Hello Gopinath, > > Here is an excerpt from the book > "Sri Ramana Vijayam" by Sri Suddhananda Bharati in Tamil. > (published 1932 by Sri Ramanasramam) > > ***************************************** > In 1908-09 Subramania Mudaliar considered that feeding the Sadhus was > the greatest Seva and did it regularly. > Every day he got the bhiksha reach Brahmana Swami and his 'shishya's. > ...Seshadri Swami wished somehow to turn away Mudaliar from the > worldly attachments towards Divinity. Guest guest
Dear Sri Gopinath Sir, There is a saying by Bhagavan to the effect that if the disciple is looking for a Guru, then the Guru will be looking for the disciple with even greater intensity! Members, please correct me if I am wrong on this one. Gopinathji, to me your dream seems a manifestation of that! Again, this is only my way of looking at it. You must be bleesed, because in so many years, He has never appeared in my dream, let alone instruct me in it! :-) Yours in Bhagavan, Nandu
