Guest guest
Dear Visti or Rafal, or any member who knows, Namaskar. I have seen that some discussion is going on on another jyotish group regarding ego. I have few questions and would be thankful for the answers. According to some Sun represents it, and according to others it is Rahu. Which planet represents ego (according to your parampara)in the chart? Could you give some example how to see in the chart (rasi or divisional or both)how ego is working in someones life and what are the steps to overcome ego problems? Thankful, Chandra
Guest guest
||Hare Rama Krsna|| Dear Chandra, Namaskar That which defines the self is where the ahamkara is seen. Without ego or ahamkara this birth would not happen. So the first definition of ahamkara arises from the atma itself and this is seen from the temporary atmakaraka in the chart and the natural atmakaraka the Sun itself. However, the Sun is not to blame for this role and really is just the source of atmajnana, but really its the causator of his rebirth that has overshadowed this atmajnana and the cause of this eclipse is Rahu. Hence Kalyana Verma (author of Saravali) equates Rahu with ego or ahamkara. The ego or ahamkara comes to fore through our personality, and here the lagna is seen for the personality and character traits that the person has. The Sun in lagna or joining the lagnesh can make the person very independant and self-absorbed. If this Sun is afflicted by Rahu then the person becomes very egoistic and can forget God completely unless Jupiter is strong in the chart. Similarly Ketu can keep the ego in check, and make the person realize their egoistic tendencies. The weakness of the sun in debility or the likes, does not lessen the ego but does lessen the persons self-esteem, making them more sensitive. Generally if you wanto see which areas of life the person will have 'ego' issues, see the Suns bhava placement and graha dristi. This will reveal the 'sensitive' spots on the persons ego. You can take my chart as an example: November 21st 1981, 6:08 AM, Nairobi Kenya. Sun is in lagna and until 16 (Jupiters age) i was extremely egoistic and didn't care much about others feelings. After 16 i started becoming more spiritual and began learning astrology. I still have ego-issues which hasn't improved with getting titles such as 'Jyotish-guru' and 'author', etc. This also leads to conflicts with others. Sun being in the lagna and aspecting the seventh house, gives me ego-problems when it comes to matters such as myself/personality/character as well as the relationships or partners that are in my life. Ketu's rasi dristi has tried to keep me in check at times. Rahu is my atmakaraka and is placed in the ninth house. The ninth house deals with religion, pennance (sadhana/tapasya) and ones faith. I may be able to let go of someones comments on my personality, but a comment on my faith or spirituality makes me see 'red' and this is hard for me to forget. This is the greatest flaw and cause of a persons birth in their chart. This placement in the ninth house manifests in small ways by making me very attached to pujas, and spiritual practices... basically getting stuck in the method of worship rather than the worship itself. To overcome this the only real way is to worship the Mahavidya of the atmakaraka. This can be a very painful process but is necessary if ones wishes to overcome this. There are more ways to analyze the 'karma' we are attached to or 'desires' we are attached to, all linked to the atmakaraka. Studying it gives a very good understanding of the cause of rebirth and ahamkara. I hope this helps. Guest guest
Visti, Please can you clarify why it is a painful process to worship the Mahavidya (see your quote below). Further, I don't see any debilitated planet in your chart for you to worship the Mahavidya. 'To overcome this the only real way is to worship the Mahavidya of the atmakaraka. This can be a very painful process but is necessary if ones wishes to overcome this.' Guest guest
||Hare Rama Krsna|| Dear Mike, Namaskar The statement i made about Mahavidya and AK is a general statement which is applicable to everyone, no matter the chart placements. The process is supposed to uproot the cause of your rebirth itself and that is not an easy path. Just see the life of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa - his pennance and self-torture will give you a good idea of what this entails. As for Chaturdasi, yes the next chapter following amavasya-dosha is the chaturdasi pujas.
