All glories to beloved Srila Prabhupada! Thank you, Mitravinda Mataji for starting a wonderful and needed project of connecting Vaisnavi sangas throughout ISKCON. It is a valuable opportunity to share realizations, experiences, express doubts and in this to way connect us to Srila Prabhupada's mood and mission regarding women. In Slovenia we have a regular Vaisnavi Saturday sangas since couple years now, but there was a need to spend more time in a valuable Vaisnavi association. This was a reason we organized a Friday to Sunday Vaisnavi weekend sanga. We rented some low-cost premises of a non-governmental-organization with kitchen in a beautiful surrounding. It was a success in a sense that 27 Vaisnavis were all very satisfied, from senior Matajis to young Bhaktins. They all wrote positive (constructive) feedbacks. We had a two days relaxed spiritual atmosphere with morning and evening spiritual temple programs. Before breakfast one of Vaisnavis gave useful lessons on self-defense (to feel protected in this age of Kali). Three Matajis prepared a short essay about their experiences on theme »How to be a Vaisnavi in a Non-Vaisnava Environment« and an interesting discussion followed (first in small groups and then amongst all). On Saturday morning we went on a trip – we walked around lake and later had bhajans there till lunch. There was also a structured seminar on Vaisnava Etiquette, which was followed by a »magic box« - questions and answers with discussion. A more relaxed part of the sanga was a cultural evening with drama and dance. All Vaisnavis would like to have more of these kinds of events. We realized this is a big need, that in this way we can get to know each other better, offer support where needed, we can discover our/others potentials and can develop them in »safer« and more relaxed environment. We decided this could be organized 4-times a year with minor occasional happenings in-between. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to share this with you. I will be happy to read about your experiences, realizations, suggestions, ideas, etc. Your aspiring servant Maja
Guest guest
Dear Vaisnavis. Please, accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. I appreciate a lot all your wonderfull attemps in "Mataji Sanga" activities. I realy appreciate nice service of Bhaktin Maja and thank her very much for all her letters. I am originaly from Czech Republic but I live in Ireland now. I also tried to organize mataji sanga here some time ago, but it didn't meet much success. There are also very nice devotees here, I just didn't manage to tune into different mood. We started Bhagavad-gita meetings instead together with the other devotees of local congregation. It was very nice, and we are going to start again hopefuly soon. I am still interested in "Mataji sanga" activities, so please, keep me informed about your success.
