Guest guest
Gandharvika dd (SRS) UK: I seriously think you should advertise your SOUL TIME CD as a new anti-depressant..... with no bad side effects! I love it and thank you so much for making it. Kesidamana das (ACBSP) Vrindavan: SOUL TIME is undoubtedly one of the greatest contributions to the culture of the 21st century. It lifts one's soul to the transcendental abode of the Lord. This most attract- ive presentation is practical proof that in Goloka Vrndavan every word is a song, even if the melodies originated in the material world. Simply nectar! Suresvara dasa (ACBSP) USA: I've been enjoying the SOUL TIME CD. First class yukta-vairgya! Trying to forget the old tunes is dry, and imp- ossible anyway. They reach their perfection in the Lord's service. There is no more powerful communication than drama, especially musical drama, which opens the spirit. Bravo to your devotional service in the performing arts. Sakhyarasa Prema das (JPS) UK: Thanks for your SOUL TIME CD with those great classics. I heard that you'd performed at the Conway Hall and it was a smash hit! We were listening to it at Raslila's birthday party. Everyone was singing along in stitches laughing. Well done!!! You brought a little more happiness into our lives. Havi das (ACBSP) USA: I have your SOUL TIME CD and I love it! The rec- ordings are of a very good production that requires work and talent. Advaita Candra (SRS) USA: The CD arrived and I like it a lot. Iravati d.d. Holland: I'm sitting at work listening to your Soul Time CD and just wanted to tell you how incredibly inspiring this is. The devotional emotions in the songs are very 'contagious' and they make me feel so eager to just grab my Bhagavad-gita and sit and read. It's so hard to keep inspired while working with non-devotees, doing compl- etely inconcequential work for eigth hours a day or more, and this really makes the difference. Gurubhakta dasi (ACBSP) USA: Your SOUL TIME CD is another work of art. I wish every devotee in every town and village would know your work. Arjuna das (SRS) UK: These ingeniously Krsna-ized musical hits are un- ique and so you! Beautifully sung, poignently phrased and irresistable! Felix Bell Manchester UK: Especially the songs about the Holy Name are now truly classic tracks in my opinion and imortalised. I played the CD to my mum (an x theatre worker) and sister (singer) and they found the tracks most apealing, they were inspired and entertained also. Thank you for engaging them in hearing the Holy Name. Reviews from live performances in England, Belgium, Spain and France: Kadamba Kanana Swami: Parividha took us beyond a stage performance. He gave us a glimpse into his own deep thoughts and realizations of what it means to live as a vaisnava. His lyrics had various themes full of dilemma and sincerity, like the song of the father who lost his son, and who despite his transcendental vision expresses deep feelings of pain, or how it would feel to be the last Srila Prabhupada disciple on earth. A valuable contribution of spiritual importance that gives us deep insight in what it means to be a devotee. Param Gati Swami: I'd like to express my deep gratitude to Parividha Prabhu's wonderful work. The lyrics of his songs are profound, filled with Krsna Consciousness and have a good sense of humour. His profess- ional performance, which was free of flaws, conveyed an energy that magn etized the audience and kept us all eager to hear more. Bhakti Caitanya Swami: I thought it was very nicely presented. Your mood was such that it brought a serious focus to the message of the songs, which was very serious I thoroughly enjoyed it as a Krsnaconsc- ious musical experience. Please continue developing more songs. Candramauli Swami: Creative, innovative, serious and very funny. Par- ividha Prabhu has the ability to absorb one in various moods of devot- ional sentiment, replete with an interesting selection of Krsna consc- ious themes. Prahladananda Swami: I appreciated your performance and the content of your songs. Mahadyuti das (ACBSP): I thought the performance was EXCELLENT! - I especially liked the snappy, danceable songs. Stagepresence, music voice, humorous intros, etc. Everything was great. Tattvavit das (ACBSP): Trained in acting and singing, Parividha capt- ured and held my attention with his technical skills. Since Krishna is the ability in man, I listened knowing that Krishna gave the song writers their ability. Jaya Bhadra d.d. (ACBSP): Humour, nostalgia, intense enthusiasm for devotional service, great hope and inspiration. It is all there in this lively, well-sequenced performance of Parividha prabhu. Don't miss it! It's a must! Yaduvendu das (ACBSP): Just wanted to say, you were great on Saturday - loved it and loved you - you were born to be a song and dance man in a dhoti. Marutvati d.d. (ACBSP): Although I've seen most of Parividha's work, of which I am very fond of, he surprised me again by dressing succ- essful musical songs from the material world into a Krishna conscious coat. It was nectar to the ears to hear those beautiful melodies with lyrics that actually make sense. Gopaswami das (ACBSP): In an original one-man-show, Parividha prabhu is boldly expressing himself as an individual devotee gifted with art- istic professionalism, heart moving feelings, and devotional realizat- ions. I felt proud of him. Iravati d.d. (Holland): I watched the performance and was completely transfixed. The beautiful lyrics cover a large range of vaishnava emot- ions, which he manages to match perfectly with the music he had chosen, as if the music actually was written for this sole purpose. Caitanya Candra das (Denmark): I normally don't like it when musicians Krsna-ize something, because it tends to bring the consciousness back to those (maya) days, but because he is such a good actor and singer I enjoyed the show very much. Tarunyamrita d.d. Belgium: His presentation was so nice to see. It was really touching. It's again a proof of how Krishna consciousness can be applied in everyway. Vyswambhara das (ACBSP): Your performance in New-Mayapur was both prof- essional and inspiring. Lord Krsna has obviously given you great acting talent and I can only hope that you will continue your efforts to pres- ent Krsna consciousness trough this medium, and also train others to do the same. The entertainment industry is a huge business in the world at this time, but only devotees can factually educate while entertaining. May the blessings of Srila Prabhupada be upon your efforts. Krsna-ksetra das (ACBSP): By 'Krsna-izing'famous Broadway musical lyr- ics, Parividha Prabhu expertly and sensitively brings us a fresh and enlivening dimension of Krsna conscious 'cultural conquest'. Every dev- otee with a sense for the devotionally sublime interpretation of West Side Story, Les Misérables, and even Cabaret, will relish the mix. Sri Phralada das (HDG) Gurukula alumni: The performance had a winning combination of feeling and professionalism. As a trained actor, dancer and singer, Parividha Prabhu's vocal range and tone precision were impressive, and his body movements full of expression and coordination The lyrics were clever, touching on a range of topics. The audience experienced it as a festival of swinging devotional moods such as laughter, sadness, grief, wonder, excitement and celebration. Ekacakragram das (LOK) Belgium: For 55 minutes I was spell bound by the sublime presentation of Parividha prabhu. Straight from the heart, full of varied emotions and presented in a professional way, which gave me goose bumps several times. Guru Charan das (TKG) Italy: I really appreciated the artistic skills, his sensitivity and especially his devotion to the Lord and to Srila Prabhupada. Sita Rama das (SRS) England: Fun! Entertaining! Parividha is certainly a 'Master of Ceremonies'. Hara Prana d.d. (RNS) Belgium: Although familiar with his abilities, to see Parividha prabhu performing with so much empathy was for me another confirmation of his professionalism. His lyrics, beautiful and deep, are full of emotion and devotion. They sometimes make you laugh, while at other times you find yourself crying. It's definitely a must to see this performance! Raja Vidya das (Holland): You don't have to be a musical fanatic to be able to appreciate these famous songs. Especially the way these well known melodies have been transformed into little journeys, travelling through experiences one can relate to in a wonderful and magical way, and presented in a sometimes dramatic and sometimes humorous way. I was touched by a variety of emotions, tears and laughter, smiles and shivers Only a gifted actor can turn you from one emotion into the other, know- ing exactly when to use subtlety or not. If I could capture it in one word or expression it would be similar to this one professional dish we all know: SIMPLY WONDERFUL...!! Anubhava das (Italy): What I appreciated the most in his performance was his ability in keeping all the audience "float" on the waves produc- ed by the different variety of emotions of his lyrics. A very profess- ional contribution to the development of the cultural identity of our movement. Maha Laxmi d.d. (Spain): The performance was great! Because of his ded- ication, seriousness, jolly mood, beautiful voice and his desire of pleasing the devotees I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. Mangala maya das (Germany): Culture is a very valuable asset in our soc- iety and as time progresses we become more conscious of it. Parividha Prabhu, as a marvellous and expert advocate, combined the different elements of cabaret, comedy and theatre into vaishnava context. Without the adding of Krishna by a genuine vaishnava, all the culture in this world are just like pieces of broken glass. Through the matchless gift of Parividha Prabhu we are able to enjoy the real gem of entertainment, which fills our hearts with love and devotion for the Lord. His present- ation is delightful and a feast for the soul. Gopisvari d.d. (RNS): I liked your performance. You get serious messages across in a very creative and fun way! It's great to see a devotee using his unique talent in service to Krsna. This inspires others to develop and use their particular talents in Krsna's service too, which I think is important for a happy society of devotees. Keep up the good work! Raja-dharma dasa. (BCS) France: Thank you for the nice performance yest- erday prabhu. I very much appreciated the technical professionalism in the presentation of the show, and how you engage your theatre and music- hall talents in KRSNA's service. You're a real musical talent. Laksmi rupa dd (JPS) Denmark: About your performance: I loved it! I felt alive, exited, inspired and filled with emotions. A little shy and maybe embarrassed because you so bravely shared your deepest and innermost fee- ings in a very beautiful graceful and confident professional way. As a member of the audience, I was also swept trough happiness, longing, grat- titude, sorrow, love and hope. Laughing, crying and gaping. I sucked in everything as a dry sponge. I wondered afterwards why it had touched me so strongly, and I think the reason is that in ISKCON we are lacking the dramatic arts, whereby we can identify ourselves with the actor or the singer. Thank you for enthusing us all in living an emotional Krishna Conscious life with the help of your dramas and dramatic singing. Puspa Gopal dasi (Spain): The lyrics, each one spiritually uplifting, are composed with such sensitivity. They really touched my heart. Janmastami das (LOK) Belgium: It was more than some real nice transcend- ental entertainment, as it gave an opportunity to understand the feelings of devotees who go through certain trials. It is a contribution in our attempts to deal honestly with our feelings rather than to ignore or deny them. Vasudeva das (KKS) Holland: Parividha Prabhu's performance was astounding Highly professional, original and entertaining. It touched my heart. I experienced the songs as an ode to life as a devotee in ISKCON, with all its beauty and ugliness, its hopes and horrors, and its sorrows and ecst- asies. Kripamoya das (ACBSP): Many years ago the great grandfather of our mov- ement, Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur, used to take the popular songs of the day and substitute devotional lyrics. By linking music that was already popular with glorification of Krishna, he succeeded in introducing pure sankirtan to many thousands of souls. Knowing that the mission of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu would ultimately reach every town and village in the entire world, he predicted that in the future Vaishnavas of many countries would praise Krishna in their own unique words and musical style. Parividha prabhu's singing combines both Bhaktivinode Thakura's songwriting tactic and his prediction and is therefore not only author- ised as pure sankirtan but a fulfilment of our acarya's prophecy. While singing in the English language may be regarded as a curious novelty by some devotees - and a dangerous challenge to the linguistic purity of our sampradaya to others - it should be remembered that to get people singing about Krishna is our entire business. (Srila Prabhupada seemed to be most encouraging to George Harrison in this regard) In these songs he succeeds in the same way as he suceeds in his musical dramas. He's always faithful to Srila Prabhupada's words and intentions He succeeds in capturing the teachings, moods and sentiments of the pure Vaishnavas, while at the same time preserving the popular music and style. Parividha das is always a consummate Vaishnava in his deal- ings with others and a professional showman when on stage. He acts and sings as if it were his divine service offering to Krishna, as sacred as his puja on the altar, which indeed it is. His live renditions of these songs conveys such depth of feeling that audiences have been mov- ed to tears with one song, and collapsed with laughter during another. Whether you know these songs or not, try to get hold of the CD of "Soul Time" and try to see a live performance if you can. For only US $14 incl. postage!
