Guest guest
Question from cytexonedasa: Would like to know how to keep my mind centered and on task while reciting japa. My mind tends to wander and I have to bring it back each time. It is very frustrating as I am fairly new to the practice. Any suggestions would be kindly appreciated. Swamiji's response: My goal is a little different. I want to keep my mind centered on the mantra while doing japa, and centered on the task while I am doing the task. Question from Nanda: Could you please elaborate - Maa often tells us to keep the mantra going when cooking/chopping etc. While I personally affirm that I would rather keep my mind on the task and not on mantra, does this not go against what Maa suggests. Thank you for your time. Swamiji's response: If it is a mundane task that we can perform mechanically, then yes, keep the mantra going and let the deity of the mantra perform the task. If it is a complex task which requires concentration, then make the task a seva, a labor of love for God and Guru, and perform it mindfully with the greatest efficiency possible.
