NAMASTE

Tonight at the Devi Mandir, Ramya told me a story that Maa told her.

While I may not have all the details correct, the center point of the

story hit me right in the heart. It was an "aha" moment.

The story was this: a saint was always smiling. Every where he went,

in any circumstance, he smiled. Everyone marveled at that smile. How

he lit up a room, and everyone's heart. He just smiled. All the

time. On his deathbed, his 5 element body sick, his disciples asked

how he managed to smile all the time.

He replied: "every morning when I meditate, I take a sankalpa to

smile, to have the strength to smile all the time. And, with the

strength of that sankalpa, and with God's grace, I smile."

What a simple story. What a simple truth. How much I pray to have

the strength and courage to take that sankalpa, and that all of us

could do the same.

At the end of the story, Maa said to Ramya, "that is how everyone

should be. Don't you think so?"

"Yes," replied Ramya.

Ramya is pretty much always smiling as far as I know. I don't recall not seeing her smiling when I last visited the Mandir. Even her Puja Deities and the food she prepared had smiles on them. One could not help but smile upon seeing Her or Them.

Srini's hat really made me smile too!

Jai Maa!
