Leave alone the divine intellectuals aspiring to reach the divine abode of

emperuman. What shall we, the people strongly held by the rigid bondage of

samsara do?

Thirumazhisaipiran answers,"Oh! The only way for you to get out of this

ocean of samsara is to hold on to that supreme lord, Sri Krishnan, who saved

this world even during the imperative times of pralaya (total destruction).

(Viraindhadaimin) Go reach him immediately. The need of the hour is so

great that you should be in a hurry.

Reach whom?

Reach the one who saves everyone in acute danger.

mEl-(mElorunAl) You are worried about being immersed in the ocean of samsara

but there was one day when the whole world was surrounded by the waters of

pralaya;

(vulagam karandhu kAththu) He placed the whole world inside his stomach and

guarded them from getting lost in the floods.

(aliththa kaNNan) The one who thus saved and gave back this world is none

other than KaNNan.

But how will we reach him when our mind is filled with the fear of naraka

awaiting us due to the result of our accumulated bags of sins.

(parandhu Adina vulagam pAdina kEttu) Hearing and enjoying the enchanting

names sung and danced merrily by srivaishnavas spread everywhere. 'vulagam

enbhadhu vuyarindhOr mAttE' i.e., 'vulagam refers to the great bhagavatas

regarded as vinnulArilum seeriyarE'

"kidandhum erundhum ezhundhum geetham palapala pAdi nadandhum paRandhum

kuniththum nAdagam seikindravE" (thiruvai 5-2-4)

"nandRisai pAdiyum tuLLiyumAdiyum jnAlam parandhAr" (thiruvai 5-2-6)

articulates nammazhvar.

(kEttu padunaragam) Just on hearing the enthralling names of the divine lord

even the world of naraka will become svarga;

"namanum mutkalanum pEsa naragil nindRargal kEtka naragamE svargamAgum

nAmangaludaiya nambee" (thirumaalai)

(naragam veedina vAsar kadhavu) The doors of naraka were ruined. So why

worry about the same.

kaNNan vulagam parandhu pAdina Adina kEttu padu naragam veedina vAsar

kadhavu – says thirumazhisai piran.

Nammazhvar restates the same as "kadal vaNNan bhoodhangal maNmEl maliyap

pugundhu esaipAdi Adi vuzhitarakkandOm-naliyum naragamum naindha"

This paasuram can also be considered to be a caution from azhvar to the

yamadhoodhas.

(veedina vAsar kadhavu viraindhu adaimin) Oh! Yama dhoodhas rush to close

the doors of naraka. All those inside have been blessed to hear the

thirunamasankeerthanam and have bursted outside.

"eniyAr puguvAr ezhu naraga vAsal muniyAdhu mooriththAl kOmin" [Mudal

thiruv-87]

*Is it not apt to enjoy the greatness of the thirunamasankeerthanam of **

Krishna soori**,** Sri periyavachan pillai (also born on a avani rohini

day). Moreover this paasuram finds its reflection in the thiruvaimozhi

paasuram of swamy nammazhvar adorned as **KrishnatrishnA tattvam**.** *
