Namaste !

Thank you Sri Ananda Wood ji for this heart-warming post. Whenever

Sri Ramana's and Sri Anandamayi names are mentioned in the same

post , i am overwhelmed by a 'bhava' of Jnana and Bhakti ! Sri

Ramana was 'a paramajnani representing Truth (Sat) and Sri

Anandamoyee Maa was 'Bhakti' devi herself representing 'Ananda' !

You conclude at the end of your well written message

" In any path, one test of genuine commitment is how far it enables

an appreciation of the best in other paths. But that, of course, is

easier said than done."

Strangely , Sri Ramana Bhagvan CAPTURED THE ESSENCE of all three

paths ( Jnana , yoga and bhakti marga) rather beautifully in the

following five stanzas he wrote and dedicated to the the Lord of

Arunachala hill !

Here it goes : ( originally written in Samskritam and translated

into Tamil AND later into English !

Ocean of Nectar , full of grace . engulfing the universe in Thy

Splendour , Oh Arunachala, the Supreme ! Be Thou the Sun and open

the lotus of my heart in Bliss!

Oh Arunachala! In Thee the picture of the Universe is formed , abides

and is dissolved. In the enigma rests the miracle of Truth. Thou

art the Inner Self Who dancest in the hearts as 'I'. 'Heart' is Thy

name, Oh Lord!

He who turns inward with untroubled mind in search where the

consciousness of 'I' realizes the Self and rests in Thee! Oh

Arunachala! as a river when it merges in the Ocean.

Abandoning the outer world , with the mind and breath controlled ,

in order to meditate on Thee within , the Yogi sees thy *Light* . Oh

Arunachala ! and finds his delight in Thee!

He who dedicates his mind to Thee and , seeing Thee , always beholds

the universe as Thy form , who at all times glorifies Thee and loves

Thee as none other than the Self , he is the master without peer ,

being One with Thee , Oh Arunachala ! lost in Thy Bliss.

Bhagwan explains the last three stanzas thus

" The third stanza deals with the Sat aspect (Being) , the fourth

with Chit ( Consciousness ) AND fifth with Ananda (Bliss) . The

Jnani becomes One with Reality or Sat like a River merging in the

Ocean ; the Yogi sees the light of Chit ; the bhakta or karma yogi

is immersed in the flood of Ananda . "

The perfection of knowledge ( atma jnana) is combined with ecstasy

of devotion as is obvious from this glowing tribute to the symbolism

of Arunachala hill!

( weaned from the book Ramana maharishi and td the Path of Self-

knowledge by Arthur Osborne published by Sri Ramanashram,

Tiruvannamalai)

The yoga sutras of Sri patanjali, the bhakti Sutras of Sri Narada

Maharishi and the various treatises on Jnana yoga by Sri Adi

shankara bhagvadapada all have their relevance in the context of any

Sadhana depending on the stage and the emotional inclination of a

spiritual aspirant .

Salutations to Sri Arunachala!

Salutations to sri Ramana bhagwan!

Salutations to Sri Anandamayee maa!

Sat Chit Ananda
