Substance and Category

Hare Krishna,

 

I came across the following sentence in the introduction to Srimad

Bhagavatam. I would highly appreciate if someone in the forum can help me

understand the meaning of it:

 

"The living force is called Brahman, and one of the greatest acaryas

(teachers), namely Sripada Sankaracarya, has preached that Brahman is

substance whereas the cosmic world is category"
