Guest guest
Question from Surya: If one is going to recite a portion of the Chandi each day of Navratri, as in the formula posted here in this forum some time ago, what is the minimum requirements of other stotrams, etc to chant before and after? Is it the same as You elaborated it is for the entire Chandi--the Vedic Ratri Shuktam, Navarna Viddhi, Portion of Durga Saptashati, Navarna Viddhi, Vedic Devi Shuktam, and Siddha Kunjika Stotram? Also is it ever okay to chant a portion of the 700 verses if one doesn't have time to perform the entire recitation or if one is building up to it? And if so, what is the formula one should follow then of before and after stotram chantings? Thanks and Pranams. Swamiji's response: If we are going to recite Chandi in a number of asanas, we should take the sankalpa each day for the portion we intend to recite. There is a difference between reciting as a priest to affect peoples' karma, in which case the entire Chandi should be recited, and trying to learn how to recite, expand our asana, and practice, in which case we can take the sankalpa for a few chapters each day, and take the sankalpa for the next series of chapters the next day. So after the sankalpa mantras, just continue from where you left off.
