Dear VedAbhimAnis:

 

70 days from today , Srimath Azhagiya Singar's

SathAbhishEkam will be celebrated at Srirangam

(November 30 , 2006).

 

This uthsavam will be preceded by Veda PaarAyaNam

by 500 invited Vedic Authorities covering the three Vedams ,

its SaakhAs and in some patterns and combinations

to protect error free methods of Recitation .

These 8 methods ( Prakruthi & Vikruthi)

are known as :

 

(1) Vaakya Paatam or Samhithaa Paatam

( Recitation of the Veda Mantrams in

a straight sentence . This would lead to

some conjoinment among the words during

the Chanting . This is Vaakya or Samhithaa Paatam .

 

When the recitation is done word by word without

conjoining , then the method is called Padha Paatam

and it follows Samhithaa Paatam . The breaking of

the sentences into words gives the reciter a thorough

knowledge of each word in a sentence.

 

(2) Krama Paatam : Here the first word of the sentence is

linked to the second word and next the second word is

linked to the third word etc until the sentence ( mantra)

is completed . The reciter understands not only

the individual words but also the method of combining

words during the recitation and changes in Swaraas

in such a combination . The order is 1-2 , 2-3, 3-4 etc.

 

(3) Jataa : Here , the order is 1-2-2-1-1-2 ,

2-3-3-2-2-3 ; 3-4-4-3-3-4 etc. In Jataa or " twisted

braids" , two words are repeated forward & Backward.

 

(4) Sikhaa : here the three words are linked forwards

and backwards.

 

(5) Rekhaa ( Line) : The next four patterns of recitation (5-8)

involve more compex sequences and needs a Mastery of

high order in handling the Veda MantrAs .

 

(6) dhwajam ( Flag)

 

(7) DaNdaa (Stick)

 

(8) RaTam ( Chariot)

 

(9) Ghanam : This is a most beautiful & Complex form of

recitation .The order is: 1-2-2-1-1-2-3-321-1-2-3 ,

2-3-3-2-2-3-4-4-3-2-23-4 , 3-4-4-3-3-4-5-5-4-3-3-4-5 .

It takes 8 years after SamhithA ahyayanam to become

a GhanapAti .

 

Chanted in this style , it will take 450 hours to recite

Rg Vedam .

 

One of the leaders among Rg Veda GhanapAdis ,

Sri Rangarajan Swamy of KumbakONam will be

joining the Rg Vedam Ghanam reciting group

at the sathAbhishEkam celebrations for Prakrutham

Srimath Azhagiya Singar . There will be other SamhithA

Paatam Rg Vedic reciters there as well .

 

The Yajur Vedam Ghanam reciting group will be

headed by SrikAryam SaThakOpAcchAr Swamy of

Sri Matam . There will also be Yajur Veda Samhitha ,

Jataa and Maala reciters .

 

The two of the three Saakhais ( Kouthuma and Jaimini

SaakhAs) will be recited at the SathAbhishEka Uthsavam .

adiyEn is still looking for a Saama VedAdhyAyee , who can recite RaaNAyini

SaakhA . Sri Matam is also looking for these rare Vedic scholars . If you happen to

have any information on some one , who can recite RaaNAyini Saakha , Please let

adiyEn know so that Sri Matam can invite him. TTD has the recordings of RaaNAyini

SaakhA but can not throw light on the identity of such an expert .

 

There will be 500 Vedic Pundits , who will be participating

at the four days of VedAdhyayanam at Srirangam during

Nov 26-29 , 2006. It will be a KallOla KolAhalam . Thrayyantha

Desikan , Sri Malolan and Sri RanganAtha will be immersed in

such a Veda ghOsham .

 

Please come and join to listen to the Veda ParAyaNam ,

Vidhvath Sathas ( Assembly of Experts) . These Experts

are class mates of Srimath Azhagiya Singar , when they

studied Sri BhAshyam under HH InjimEttu Azhagiya Singar .

They will give upanyAsams on Sri BhAshyam instead of

the VaakyArTams , which takes place in a traditional Vidvath

Sathas .

 

Cost of Staging such Veda PaarAyaNam with 500 Vedic Scholars

Charges for attending the Srirangam Uthsavam and return home ,
