Guest guest
senRu veLLaRaik kANdumE Once, Nadadur Ammal asked his father Nadadur Azhwan to teach Sri Bahsya Kalakshepam. Nadadur Azhwan asked his son to go to Thivellarai and learn it from EngalAzhwan. When Nadadur Ammal went and knocked the door of the ThirumAligai of EngalAzhwan, the latter asked who was at the entrance. The former replied by referrring to himself as "I". Immediately, EngalAzhwan replied, "naan Setthu vAraum". When Nadadur Ammal went back to Kanchipuram and explained everything, his father asked him to go to Thiruvellarai again, and this time around refer to his self as "adiyEn". On following his father's instructions, Nadadur Ammal learnt Sri Bashya Kalakshepam from EngalAzhwAn. Becasue of this, EngalAzhwan came to be known as Ammal Acharyan. His descendants are still known as Ammal Acharyas. Swami Desikan has referred to this Divya Desam along ThiruVengadam, Thirukkachi, Thiruvarangam, Thirumalirumcholai in His work called Hamsa Sandesam. There is a lovely description for the architecture of this temple in connection with our sampradayam. We will enjoy this in the next posting before we get to enjoy... thenRal maamaNam kamazhthara varu thiruveLLaRai ninRaanE adiyen, ramanan Talk is cheap. Use Messenger to make PC-to-Phone calls.
