Guest guest
Dear All, I am new to this group and I would like to send you my best wishes for the 10 days of Devi in Dashera and for yesterday¹s Mahalaya. I have been a student of Swami Vivekananda and Sri Ramakrishna as well as comparative mysticism and religion for many years now and I have recently started studying Devi and being initiated into Sri Vidya Upasana. I would like to read much more about the origins, forms and places of Devi worship in India, about Shakti Piths, Sri Vidya Upasana and Kundalini; and while I have read Ajit Mukehrjee and some other authors, I am still to find a comprehensive academic and mystical set of books that can truly take me deeper into this subject as I prepare myself for further initiation from a Guru. Can you please advise me on where to start and what books might answers some of my questions on this quest. I look forward to being a part of this community. Best wishes, Raja Choudhury, New York. Guest guest
Dear Raja: Welcome! Perhaps I'm biased, but I think as good a place as any to begin exploring your questions online is: http://www.shaktisadhana.org Click deeply, click often -- there is a *lot* of information in there, and it's expanding nearly every day. For "a comprehensive academic and mystical set of books that can truly take [you] deeper into this subject," check out our Listmania entry at Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/gp/richpub/listmania/fullview/17SX2T24MNOH1 Okay, so there's my blatantly biased pitch for the resources we've assembled; to explore other sources, check the Links (we've assembled) here: /links And since Srividya seems to be your interest, you could do a lot worse than perusing the latest Kadambari symposium, just released yesterday: Kadambari_Navratri06.pdf in our library (click Files in Menu at left). Hope that gets you started! If you have any more questions, please feel free to post. There's an astonishing depth and breadth of experience among our membership ... avail yourself of it! ;-) Happy exploring ...
