Meaning:

The Lord Who gave the ocean of milk

when the boy (upamanyu) cried for milk!

One Who blessed viShNu with the disc!

In the lasting thillai, having the thiruchiRRambalam,

One Who is capable of practicing dance,

Notes:

1. Sage upamanyu is the son of vyAgrapAda.

vyAgrapAda was involved totally in the service

for milk. God brought an ocean of milk itself

for him. This sage initiated kriShNa into

worship of Lord shiva (dIksha). This is explained

in mahabhArata. periyapurANam also narrates the

stories of 63 saints as the words of sage upamanyu.

2. mahAviShNu got his weapon of disc offering

his eye itself as a flower. Details could be found at

http://www.shaivam.org/siddhanta/machak.html

3. mannuthal - to last/to stay; Aliththal - to rejoice;

pAliththal - governing.
