Guest guest
MODERATION VS AGGRAVATION Thirumangai AzhvAr should have jumped in glee. His outbursts should have exhibited exuberance and happiness. EmeprumAn blessed him with causeless mercy. Kaliyan however commences 'vADinEan vADi' . Nam AzvAr misses the Lord very much. He pines for Him. The Lord delays for His arrival. Then He comes. What happens? Instead of moderating the sitaution, it aggravates. ParAnkusa nAyaki becomes wild with anger. She refuses to meet His eye and is extremely cross with EmperumAn. min iDai madavAr -6-2 of ThiruvAimozhi. These are not isolated incidents confined to these two. KulasEkarazvar is also so furious that he challenges 'Oh! Lord.Let me wait for your arrival and exhaust my wrath' 'varudhiyEal en sinam thErvan nAnEA' What does this mean? One expects to attain eternal happiness on Lord's arrival. They are submerged in distress calling for Him, fainting, sending emissaries and so on. Spending sleepless time, they are in tears. The Lord's blessing aggravates rather than moderates the feelings. It stokes rather assuaging the passions. We ordinary souls perhaps, feel happy on the blessings of the Lord. They who are epitome of bakthi pAravasyam suffer pangs of separation -bakthi pAravasyathAlEa AzvArgaL-svb- cannot but display the growing desire transforming into emotional outbursts in public. 'The tiff between the svarUpam being confident that He will come (pEARu thappAdhu enRu thuNindhirukkai) and elevate us and the expectation -thvarai to reach Him instantaneously(pEARRukkuth thvarikkai)' goes on and the thvarai overtakes the composure. This is what happens in ThirunedunthaNdakam. The ThirunAmam of EmperumAn awakes parkAla nAyaki 'vaLarthadhanAl payan peRREAn' - but makes her feel more. The thriunamam aggravates the position whcih is also seen with parAnkusa nAyaki - kaNNan nAmamEa kuzharik konREr. What is expected to be the medicine is becoming the cause for concern -kadal vaNNar idhu seidhAr kAppAr AREA? Well, SvAmi Azhagia maNavALap perumAL nAyanAr excellently analysis this syndrome and explains that EmperumAn breeds the feeling for Him -increases the expectations for Him in geometrical proportions -ini ini enRa irupadhinkAl. Who can question His methods. Instead of Modeartion He Aggravates. The Moderator Himself aggravates.
