Hey send some to me also! ;-) Actually one Mataji was on my parikrama one time during Gaura Purnima time. She had just come from Mayapur. She told me that when she took a taxi from the Calcutta airport, the driver asked where she was coming from. As soon as she said New York, he immediately turned completely around to her and said, You got any of that Radha Govinda Burfy? In service of Srimati Vrinda Devi, Deena Bandhu dasa

In service of Srimati Vrinda Devi, Deena Bandhu dasa that is my point ,what is the need of some candy cane , when Radha Govindas burfy is of a "different " creation, when I was in Boston temple, I missed Radha Govindas darshan, so when the sankirtan men came to do sankirtana book distribution, they where always kind to bring some Maha prasadam burfy, somhow if you can't have the Lords darshan at least if you have their Lordships Mahaprasadam you heart is pacified.I dont know if there is any sastric reference to this, but many times also in India devotees have this experience, like being in Vrindavan when devotees bring you Mahaprasdam from Radha Govinda, or Sri Nathaji, and Jagannatha....let us not forget one of the loving exchanges is giving and recieving prasadam: Offering gifts in charity, accepting charitable gifts, revealing one's mind in confidence, inquiring confidentially, accepting prasäda and offering prasäda are the six symptoms of love shared by one devotee and another. PURPORT In this verse Çréla Rüpa Gosvämé explains how to perform devotional activities in the association of other devotees. There are six kinds of activities: (1) giving charity to the devotees, (2) accepting from the devotees whatever they may offer in return, (3) opening one's mind to the devotees, (4) inquiring from them about the confidential service of the Lord, (5) honoring prasäda, or spiritual food, given by the devotees, and (6) feeding the devotees with prasäda. An experienced devotee explains, and an inexperienced devotee learns from him. This is guhyam äkhyäti påcchati. When a devotee distributes prasäda, remnants of food offered to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, in order to maintain our spirit of devotional service we must accept this prasäda as the Lord's grace received through the pure devotees. We should also invite pure devotees to our home, offer them prasäda and be prepared to please them in all respects. This is called bhuìkte bhojayate caiva. Actually Krsna gives His mercy to those who are eager to offer Maha prasadam to His devotees,I love to serve prasadam and give Mahaprasadam to devotees it is very satisfying

Candy Canes where offered and distributed as prasadam in New York City only during the Christmas Marathon. You must understand the concept of "utility is the principle", and "time. place, and circumstance", to see the true spiritual nature of this activity. The Candy Cane was an item the fallen condition soul could relate with and would easily take from a devotee and eat, and give some to their children also. Srila Prabhupada knew we dressed up as Santa Claus and he said if the Christians could do it so could we. Of course we stopped doing Santa Claus as once we realized the bad PR image it cast on ISKCON, but that took a few years to perceive, and then we stopped. Once Sridhar Swami had a photo of himself in Sannyasa cloth, but instead of a Danda, Sridhar Swami was holding a six foot high red and white Candy Cane. That photo was sent to Srila Prabhupada who liked it. Burfy is the best and Radha Govinda's Burfy is famous but you must also develop broader strategies to successfully get Krishna consciousness to the unfortunate souls who do not seek it or are not qualified to receive it. Your insignificant servant, Ramabhadra das Dandavat pranams All glories to Srila Prabhupada I have tried the candy cane doing one marathon with Sastivara Prabhu ,we went to North Carolina and we offered them to Giriraja and Srila Prabhupada. People where thankfull getting a book and a candy cane. The real Candy cane in my opinion is Srila Prabhupadas books that work like sugar candy for those suffering from the jaundice of avidya. In Europe I don't recall us distributing prasadam with books, except for Harinama and devotees would never ever consider offering something made by karmis and offer it to the Deities . I doubt in India that would be accepted too. But in America, where everything is saturated with sugar, a candy cane will be well liked.Srila Prabhupada authorized it in USA , I have only support for it. I do however believe the burfy of Radha Govinda will be liked by one and all also, even the karmis.( the candy canes are liked as they are cheap and already made and packed) .In Denmark and I believe Sweden too devotees are selling these coconut balls, and given up bookdistribution, the prizes of the books went so high thanks to Brahma Muhurta that there is no or little bookdistribution there ."Keep the cost of books down Brahma Muhurta Prabhu and stop selling prasadam at the cost of bookdistribution.
