Guest guest
> that is my point ,what is the need of some candy cane , when Radha Govindas > burfy is of a > "different " creation You missed my point altogether. Payonidhi Prabhu when you send us nectar, it's nice, by why do you insist on arguing with my godbrothers and sisters who were serving Srila Prabhupada when you weren't even in your diaper dhoti? You disturbed Ramabhadra so much at one point he wanted to quit this discussion. Lucikly for us he stayed around and gave us such nectarean instructions. Just come down off your high horse and stop beating us over the head like Banasura with a hundred arguments. Just graciously accept defeat and beg for one of Radha Govinda's Mahaprasad Candy Canes this marathon. ;-) > I do however believe the burfy of Radha Govinda > will be liked by one and all also, even the karmis. We love burfy, Calcutta cabbies love it, but my Mother, for one, hated burfy. But she loved candy canes! > In Europe I don't recall us distributing prasadam with books, except for > Harinama and devotees would never ever consider offering something made by > karmis and offer it to the Deities . I doubt in India that would be accepted > too. Again in India Srila Prabhupada told us to buy sweets from the sweet shop to offer to the Deities. He said as soon as you pay money it's purified. About candy canes, even though they're made by karmis, he said a little water, sugar, and color, what is the harm? You may not like something, but if Srila Prabhupada liked or approved of it, what's the problem: Pradyumna's attachment for Kåñëa was always exhibited by his action. Whenever Whenever he was ordered by his father to execute something, he would immediately execute the order, taking the task as nectarean even though it may have been poison. Similarly, whenever he would find something to be disapproved of by his father, he would immediately reject it as poison, even though it may have been nectarean. Guest guest
In a message dated 9/30/2006 8:30:07 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, Bhakti.Vikasa.Swami (AT) pamho (DOT) net writes: The laddus that devotees used to distribute to the NYC public are famous even now. Hare Krishna: Please accept my humble obeisance's. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Here is a brief history of the Sankirtana prasadam distribution of the 1970's. The sweet was actually named "Lugglu" and it was similar to a modern day health bar with various nuts, raisins, honey, dry fruits, chick pea flour, and all cooked in pure ghee.It is a very expensive sweet to produce today as all those ingredient prices have skyrocketed. After preparing and offering to Sri Sri Radha Govinda the Lugglu was packaged individually in a clear plastic sleeve with a color foldable mantra invitation card with all Lugglu ingredients listed on the label. The label had a line drawing in one corner of Shyamasundar playing His flute in three fold bending form. The most impressive words on the label were at the end of the ingredient listing it was written, "Made with love and devotion by devotees of Lord Krishna", I will never forget those words. The lugglus were distributed in the tens of thousands and the devotees became popular especially when doing Sankirtana on the Subway cars where people would call out for one of "those candies" when devotees would enter a Subway car to make an announcement prior to collecting donations and giving Srila Prabhupada's books and of course Radha Govinda's lugglus. Sometime on Monday nights at the Henry St. temple would be Istagosthi and simultaneous mass packaging of thousands of Lugglu as we would get an update on things Srila Prabhupada said or a letter on instruction Srila Prabhupada had recently sent out. Sometime before Hari Nam Sankirtan which took place six days a week, a few Senior devotees would take some of us young and hungry kids into the Storehouse room of Lugglu Prema, yes the Lugglu prasadam had its own storage room in the basement. We would get two or three lugglus to Krishnaize us so we would dance and chant with great energy for many hours on Hari nam. One of the most memorable lugglu pastimes is when the Rolling Stones were performing five consecutive nights at Madison Square Garden. The entire temple except for a pujari or two and a security person, approximately 100 devotees went every night from 6pm - 8pm in front of Madison Square Garden where Agnideva prabhu, Visnugada prabhu, and a few other super excellent kirtan men would lead us in Sankirtana as approximately eight thousand lugglus per night were distributed to the hungry, hankering, and appreciative young people waiting for the concert doors to open. Many thousands of books and especially large numbers of the Reservoir of Pleasure were distributed. We also gave a fifty gallon barrel of prasadam lemonade and a lot of watermelon prasadam, all for free and of course we accepted any charity given. We gave forty thousand (40,000) free lugglus in the five nights of Sankirtana. The atmosphere became so spiritually surcharged that even the Rolling Stones, yes even the Devil became influenced. Inside the concert the Rolling Stones entrance on to the main stage was made on top of a moving giant Lotus Flower. Hopefully they didn't think they were God. There is hope for the Rolling Stones as we were told that Jadurani Mataji distributed a Bhagavad-gita to Mick Jagger and the Devil himself gave a $100 donation. All glories to the sweet days of sweet lugglu Radha Govinda prasadam distribution. Your insignificant servant, Ramabhadra das
