Is it possible to completely annihilate desire?...

Here is Swamiji's answer to this question:

 

We will not get rid of desire: iccha, kriya, and jnana shaktis are inherent

to all existence, every atom. That is desire, action, and knowledge. Our

purpose is to discriminate as to which desires will bring us closer to our

goals, and which desires will get us in to more trouble so that we are farther

from our goals.
