Guest guest
TIRU ANBIL DWAJASTHAMBAM KAINKARYAM TRIP TO INDIA FROM 05/192006 to 08/27/2006 – PART 9 (CONCLUDED) 20TH AUGUST TO 22ND AUGUST 2006: “VIDAAYATTI” As the Tiru Anbil Divyadhamapatis had completed the kainkaryam true to the spirit of the saying “swasmai swapreetayE swayamEva Kaaritavaan”, there was for me virtually a respite, (what they call “ViDaayatti”), a short period of rest and recuperation from the hectic activity connected with the Dwajasthamba kainkaryam. However, I used this period to visit some of my friends and relatives in Srirangam and Trichy. 23RD AUGUST 2006: LEFT FOR CHENNAI FOR REMOVAL OF SUTURE- The cyst related wound on my back that remained at a low key so far (possibly for permitting me to attend to the important work on hand!), started giving some irritation. This reminded me that the Surgeon had not removed the suture and had asked me to come for the purpose as soon as my work was over at my native place. Sri Parthasarathy Swamin of (Southern Railway Stores, Trichy who was an unfailing help in securing accommodation in all my journeys) tried his best to secure some accommodation for me in one or the other of the trains to Chennai. But, due to unusual and unprecedented rush, all trains were running full and no seats or berths were available till 26th August 2006 - the day I was to leave for Mumbai en route to U.S.A! Finally, he got through Emergency Quota (EQ) in First class in Rockfort Express, though we bought a ticket for 2 Tier A/C Coach (which incidentally was more expensive!) Quite surprisingly, as the train left Trichy Junction, the TT offered accommodation in the 2 Tier A/C coach itself! I arrived at Chennai on 24th morning and went straight to the Surgeon and got the suture removed. 26TH AUGUST2006: LEFT CHENNAI FOR MUMBAI TO DUBAI Left Chennai to Mumbai by Kingfisher airlines. The food was good; the crew was courteous to a fault. In short, this was one of the most memorable flights I have ever experienced. I am sure that if permitted to fly International, Kingfisher would beat all the rest hands down! I had at least four hours waiting at Mumbai. A friend, Sri Mandar Phadke, working for one of the reputed International Airlines invited us to his home for a short sojourn undertaking to complete the paperwork on our behalf for our onward journey. Due to strict security protocol, the staff at the counter needed us to “physically show our faces” before processing the clearance. On receiving the emergency call from this friend, we rushed back to the Counter and literally “showed our faces” to the satisfaction of the counter staff! This was the signal for the issue of the “Boarding pass” and an “All clear” for boarding! 27TH AUGUST 2006: HASSLES AGAIN AT LONDON! Fresh from the bomb threats for US bound aircrafts from London; strict restrictions were enforced both on the size and contents of hand baggage. We had to off load a few items to conform to the reduced size of hand baggage insisted on at London Airport. After a thorough check, we were permitted to board the flight. 27TH AUGUST 2006: ARRIVED AT ATLANTA: At long last, we arrived at Atlanta. A police dog was employed to detect any unauthorized carriage of items into the U.S.A. The dog could not find anything objectionable except for an apple that my grandson had bitten and dropped in his hand baggage! May be, they had starved the dog for ages that it couldn’t get away from the enticing smell of the rotten apple! Thus, ended an eventful, epoch making and suspense-thriller trip to India and we were back home again. But the indelible impression left of the benign and smiling face of Sundararaja Perumaal and Sundaravalli Thaayaar and the majestic look of the Dwajasthambam in its full glory, sheen and shine were etched on our minds and hearts and I am sure these impressions will last forever. May the Divyadhampatis shower their choicest blessings on all those who participated in the effort with their physical and / or mental presence and all those who contributed to the successful completion of the celebrations as also all the Bhagavatas who patiently read through this 9 part serial! The gist of talks given at various venues (as also those that could not be delivered, for whatever reason) and the article on Upanishads submitted to the Souvenir connected with the Sathabhishekam of His Holiness Srimad Azhagiya Singhar will be posted in the days ahead.
