Guest guest
today is the unfortunate disappearance day of HH Bhakti swarupa Damodara Swami of Bhaktivedanta institute fame. He just had a massive Heart attack in the early hours of Kolkatta. this day is also Vijaya Dasami, the victory over Ravana, and victory over anarthas. the tithi had started 3:00.30 am and the massive heart attack occurred after the tithi had started. his disciples will likely send us the full details shortly. we await this news. may His holiness bless all of us that we may rid ourselves of all of our anarthas that obstruct the path of prema bhakti. on a personal note, health is only important for prema bhakti (SB 1.1.10) jivasya tattva-jijnasa nartho yas ceha karmabhih SYNONYMS kamasya—of desires; na—not; indriya—senses; pritih—satisfaction; labhah—gain; jiveta—self-preservation; yavata—so much so; jivasya—of the living being; tattva—the Absolute Truth; jijnasa—inquiries; na—not; arthah—end; yah ca iha—whatsoever else; karmabhih—by occupational activities. TRANSLATION Life's desires should never be directed toward sense gratification. One should desire only a healthy life, or self-preservation, since a human being is meant for inquiry about the Absolute Truth. Nothing else should be the goal of one's works.
