Dear Ranjan ji

Scriptures called shruthis are the ''heard ones''.It is often

referred to in the puranas as ''ashareeri- some sound coming from

the heavens or distance''.Ashareeri is atma ,ie the one without a

shareera or body.Atma knows everything. It is nothing there that the

atma doesn't know. For example we can think of Bhava-Abhinaya or

acting. When ego is giving us an individual stamp, how will we act as

someone else?

It is only by forgetting oneself, one can become the other bhava in

totality.Forgetting oneself is like going close to one's REAL

SELF.There the mind ceases and merges with jeevatma.

When we do any of the following say, seek /act/sing/learn/recite

mantras/think,pray/play/paint/cry with sincerity we will feel the

smell or bliss as you have said. The TRUTHS that come from such

proximity cannot be got obtained from any book.

Thanks! Often people translate shruthis as part of oral tradition

(when transmission was from teacher's mouth to student's ears). It is

generally presumed that this was prior to there being script. I find

that difficult to reconcile to because minds capable of such complex

thinking surely knew how to write! Perhaps there was some sacredness

or secrecy that made the ancient Indians to use the mouth-to-ear

apprach instead of hand-to-eye.

Shruthis as you describe would be like channeling.
