Guest guest
Sri: SrImathE nighamAntha MahAdEsikAya Namah: Dearest all, Purattasi ThiruvONam, (Oct 3rd is AchArya saarvabhouman Swami Vedantha Desikan's Thirunakshathram. I was simply admiring the greatness of our Dearest AchAryA - and the mere list of his "all" master pieces (all of them are really great ones!). We need many more births to read them even once and understand them. I just felt like thinking loud as to how we can repay as a token repayment at all for what our AchAryA has done so mercifully for us. His dayA on us is like the mother cow towards its calf. Swami's vaathsalyam is so amazing that he has blessed us with such works ranging from the simple yet wondreful ones to brilliant overwhelming ones to suit all caliber and all levels - enabling us to understand and follow Acharya's teaching. Enjoy his one sloka or one verse and Understand to be saved. 1. Make a personal commitment- Commit ourselves to reciting few (at least one sthOthram of Swami Desikan) of his sthOthra nidhi (or Hayagreeva sthOthram on monday; Dasaavathaara sthOthram on tuesday- like that also, we can plan to fit into our "tight" (useless) schedule. and Start off right now from today on his thirunakshathram, as an offering to our Swami. (Those who do not know any sthOthram, can also read Adaikkalappatthu , which is in Tamil- 2. Donate funds: There are projects for which funds are being raised by members, kaimkaryams being performed).- One can allocate a little of their earnings and contribute to celebrate AchAryAL 's Thirunakshthrams. That is bhAgawatha, bhagawath and AchArya kainkaryam. Just from your home, you can do all these kaimkaryams by such contributions. 3. Distribute articles: Whatever you know, or have in terms of books, private articles regarding Sri Vaishnava sampradayam, distribute among bhakthAs, who may not have time/resources to get them. Please take copies and distribute freely. If there is any interesting book that you have read, please send that info to the Group. (Like Sri Anand's SamasrayaNam, Bhakti & Prapatti, etc..) 4. Hold Srivaishnava gatherings at home. Please call few families for a light snacks session, and discuss about Sri Ramanuja Siddhaantham/ our rich traditions, enjoy AzhwAr's pAsurams, Swami Desikan's slOkas meanings, Biography of AchAryALs, AzhwArs, discuss your doubts [witha keenness to learn] and share opinions, recite VishNu Sahasranaamam, etc.. -That will have an impression on our children's minds and they grow also as Sri vaishnavas. Let us try to attempt towards that track. 5. Call your spouse, children and collectively recite few sthOthrams in front of the altar/Pooja room and prostrate on the ground, once in the morning, once before dinner and once before going to bed. (teach them few simple slOkAs, too) 6. At any cost, LET US NOT SKIP Sandhyaavandhanams. All the above five points can be skipped; But not this point please. (Again, your boy will do only if he sees you doing it now- ) Children learn from what they see more than what they hear... Be a role model. May Divya Dampatis and AchArYAL bless us and shower Their grace to guide us. Please forgive me for adiyEn's indulgence. May Swami desikan bless us with his merciful glances on this most auspicious day! thoNdar ugakkum thuNai adi vaazhi nin thoomuRuval koNda mugam vaazhi vaazhi vyaakkiyaa muddhiraikkai vaNN thiru naamamum vaazhi maNivada muppurinool koNdaseerth thooppul kulamaNiyE! vaazhi ninvadivE Bhagawathas- at Your Feet, who enjoy being at Your Feet,- May Those Feet of Yours long live!
