Guest guest Posted October 3, 2006 Report Share Posted October 3, 2006 Tirumala Brahmotsavam fetches a record Rs.94 million TIRUPATI, OCT.3, 2006 (TIRUPATITIMES.COM) The famous hill shrine of Lord Sri Venkateswara, richest in the country, at Tirumala near here has fetched a record total collections of about Rs.94 million during the nine-day annual Brahmotsavam festivals that concluded today. Revealing this information to the press on the hills this evening, the Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Mr. A.P.V. Narayana Sarma and Joint Executive Officer, Mr. G. Balaramaiah said that, of this, the temple hundi (Offering Box) alone has netted the cash offerings about Rs.70.8 million besides huge gold and other precious offerings. The sale of darshan tickets has amounted to Rs.12 million while the Laddu prasadams sales accounted for Rs. 11.2 million. About a million devotees from across the country and abroad have participated in the processions of Lord, both in the morning and night daily during the nine-day festivals while only half of them have thronged the shrine to have darshan of the presideing deity of Lord Venkateswara at the sanctum sanctorum, Mr.Sarma said. Interestingly, about 2.5 lakh devotees including women and infants have had their heads tonsured as a fulfillment of vow before entering into the shrine.
