Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Namaste Pradeep, I just wanted to share with you the following link from Valmiki Ramayana. http://www.valmikiramayan.net/ayodhya/sarga100/ayodhya_100_frame.htm I request you to read especially those shlokas which start with "Kachhit", that reflect the astute nature and concerns of a king. Infact, if you go through the Ayodhya kanda you'll find many instances of ideal kingdom and how important, to the Raja, is the welfare of his praja. That's how our sages visualized a king...and that vision certainly had not included the bhaats:--)) My earnest request is that while we may have not yet grown to the level of appreciating their vision, let's not pull it down to suit our level. Please think about it. And, please remember that Sage Parashara named Shri Rama as the avatara pertaining to Sun. As opposed to the above shlokas, can you show me any pramana that says that a king must have ego? This is my last post on this issue and I intend to exit all other threads too. Thanks for the lively discussion. Regards, Lakshmi Similarly Sun gives us > > strength ,life, eyesight,is karaka for lagna, and the feeling of a > > KING based on strength. > > How a KING will feel is understandable though you find it tough to > > accept.Hence we have to overcome EGO and should be humble. Guest guest
Dear Lakshmi ji Exceptions are not examples. Common man has ego. Those who are realized may not.Hence Jyotish is not for the realized ones.Planets do not affect them. Puranas may speak of Rajas who are Purushottamas. Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Namaste Pradeep, Belated Diwali greetings to you. Please go through the following links talking about the life/duties of a king, as given in a ) Maha Bharata by Sage Veda Vyasa spoken through Sage Narada b) and in Artha shastra by Kautilya. When you go through these links, coupled with the one from Valmiki Ramayana, spanning across yugas / manvantaras, I hope you'll understand that all these deal with the rules and not the exceptions. 1. http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m02/m02005.htm 2. http://www.hinduwebsite.com/history/kautilya.asp#Book%20I,% 20Chapter%207 (Life of a king & duties of a king) I hope you also realize that Sage Narada and Kautilya were not speaking about Purushottamas but about kings in general. I request you again, for my benefit, to quote a pramana that says a king must invariably have ego. Regards, Lakshmi P.S. you can also refer to Manu smriti. , "vijayadas_pradeep" <vijayadas_pradeep wrote: > > Dear Lakshmi ji > > Exceptions are not examples. > Common man has ego. Those who are realized may not.Hence Jyotish is > not for the realized ones.Planets do not affect them. > Puranas may speak of Rajas who are Purushottamas. > > Pradeep, "b_lakshmi_ramesh" > <b_lakshmi_ramesh@> wrote: > > > > Om Gurave Namah > > > > Namaste Pradeep, > > > > I just wanted to share with you the following link from Valmiki > > Ramayana. > > > > > http://www.valmikiramayan.net/ayodhya/sarga100/ayodhya_100_frame.htm > > > > I request you to read especially those shlokas which start > > with "Kachhit", that reflect the astute nature and concerns of a > king. > > Infact, if you go through the Ayodhya kanda you'll find many > instances > > of ideal kingdom and how important, to the Raja, is the welfare of > his > > praja. > > > > That's how our sages visualized a king...and that vision certainly > had > > not included the bhaats:--)) My earnest request is that while we > may > > have not yet grown to the level of appreciating their vision, > let's > > not pull it down to suit our level. Guest guest
Dear Lakshmi ji Thanks for the wishes and same to you and family. Thanks for the links as well.Infact neither Praja nor King is supposed to have high EGO as per rules and duties. If we all were perfect and following guidelines then we all would had beeen realized without effort. Ego in common parlance is pride. In spiritual parlance it is dwaita bhava. But common parlance too is the same.Pride is directly proportional to our distance from real self. Also this feeling gets enriched by virtue of material possessions and power. It makes us blind. As you have said one should not be so as per ideals. But that is not the case in life. But on the other hand there are exceptional cases where some kings are manifestation of virtues. Those cannot be examples is my view. Thanks Pradeep , "b_lakshmi_ramesh" <b_lakshmi_ramesh wrote: > > Om Gurave Namah > > Namaste Pradeep, > > Belated Diwali greetings to you. > > Please go through the following links talking about the life/duties > of a king, as given in > a ) Maha Bharata by Sage Veda Vyasa spoken through Sage Narada > b) and in Artha shastra by Kautilya. > > When you go through these links, coupled with the one from Valmiki > Ramayana, spanning across yugas / manvantaras, I hope you'll > understand that all these deal with the rules and not the > exceptions. > > 1. http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m02/m02005.htm > > 2. http://www.hinduwebsite.com/history/kautilya.asp#Book%20I,% > 20Chapter%207 > (Life of a king & duties of a king) > > I hope you also realize that Sage Narada and Kautilya were not > speaking about Purushottamas but about kings in general. > > I request you again, for my benefit, to quote a pramana that says a > king must invariably have ego. > > Regards, > Lakshmi > > P.S. you can also refer to Manu smriti. > > > , "vijayadas_pradeep" > <vijayadas_pradeep@> wrote: > > > > Dear Lakshmi ji > > > > Exceptions are not examples. > > Common man has ego. Those who are realized may not.Hence Jyotish is > > not for the realized ones.Planets do not affect them. > > Puranas may speak of Rajas who are Purushottamas. > > > > Pradeep, "b_lakshmi_ramesh" > > <b_lakshmi_ramesh@> wrote: > > > > > > Om Gurave Namah > > > > > > Namaste Pradeep, > > > > > > I just wanted to share with you the following link from Valmiki > > > Ramayana. > > > > > > > > > http://www.valmikiramayan.net/ayodhya/sarga100/ayodhya_100_frame.htm > > > > > > I request you to read especially those shlokas which start > > > with "Kachhit", that reflect the astute nature and concerns of a > > king. > > > Infact, if you go through the Ayodhya kanda you'll find many > > instances > > > of ideal kingdom and how important, to the Raja, is the welfare > of > > his > > > praja. > > > > > > That's how our sages visualized a king...and that vision > certainly > > had > > > not included the bhaats:--)) My earnest request is that while we > > may > > > have not yet grown to the level of appreciating their vision, > > let's > > > not pull it down to suit our level. Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Namaste Pradeep, What is documented in the epics and Artha Shastra are the theory and practice of kingship. Generally all the kings followed them, except for an aberrant few. Such exceptions can exist everywhere...alike among kings and commoners. My only humble submission is why tag "pride" only to kings, when it can be tagged to me and you too? And, certainly we are not kings!! :--)) Regards, Lakshmi , "vijayadas_pradeep" <vijayadas_pradeep wrote: > > Dear Lakshmi ji > > Thanks for the wishes and same to you and family. > Thanks for the links as well.Infact neither Praja nor King is supposed > to have high EGO as per rules and duties. If we all were perfect and > following guidelines then we all would had beeen realized without effort. > > Ego in common parlance is pride. In spiritual parlance it is dwaita > bhava. But common parlance too is the same.Pride is directly > proportional to our distance from real self. > Also this feeling gets enriched by virtue of material possessions and > power. It makes us blind. As you have said one should not be so as per > ideals. But that is not the case in life. > > But on the other hand there are exceptional cases where some kings are > manifestation of virtues. Those cannot be examples is my view. > > Thanks > Pradeep > > , "b_lakshmi_ramesh" > <b_lakshmi_ramesh@> wrote: > > > > Om Gurave Namah > > > > Namaste Pradeep, > > > > Belated Diwali greetings to you. > > > > Please go through the following links talking about the life/duties > > of a king, as given in > > a ) Maha Bharata by Sage Veda Vyasa spoken through Sage Narada > > b) and in Artha shastra by Kautilya. > > > > When you go through these links, coupled with the one from Valmiki > > Ramayana, spanning across yugas / manvantaras, I hope you'll > > understand that all these deal with the rules and not the > > exceptions. > > > > 1. http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m02/m02005.htm > > > > 2. http://www.hinduwebsite.com/history/kautilya.asp#Book%20I,% > > 20Chapter%207 > > (Life of a king & duties of a king) > > > > I hope you also realize that Sage Narada and Kautilya were not > > speaking about Purushottamas but about kings in general. > > > > I request you again, for my benefit, to quote a pramana that says a > > king must invariably have ego. > > > > Regards, > > Lakshmi > > > > P.S. you can also refer to Manu smriti. > > > > > > , "vijayadas_pradeep" > > <vijayadas_pradeep@> wrote: > > > > > > Dear Lakshmi ji > > > > > > Exceptions are not examples. > > > Common man has ego. Those who are realized may not.Hence Jyotish is > > > not for the realized ones.Planets do not affect them. > > > Puranas may speak of Rajas who are Purushottamas. > > > > > > Pradeep, "b_lakshmi_ramesh" > > > <b_lakshmi_ramesh@> wrote: > > > > > > > > Om Gurave Namah > > > > > > > > Namaste Pradeep, > > > > > > > > I just wanted to share with you the following link from Valmiki > > > > Ramayana. > > > > > > > > > > > > > http://www.valmikiramayan.net/ayodhya/sarga100/ayodhya_100_frame.htm > > > > > > > > I request you to read especially those shlokas which start > > > > with "Kachhit", that reflect the astute nature and concerns of a > > > king. > > > > Infact, if you go through the Ayodhya kanda you'll find many > > > instances > > > > of ideal kingdom and how important, to the Raja, is the welfare > > of > > > his > > > > praja. > > > > > > > > That's how our sages visualized a king...and that vision > > certainly > > > had > > > > not included the bhaats:--)) My earnest request is that while we > > > may > > > > have not yet grown to the level of appreciating their vision, > > > let's > > > > not pull it down to suit our level.
