Guest guest
Dear Shri. Kanishk: Regulating the breath will help in controlling the mind. Thus praanaayaama learnt under experts in the field can be very useful for controlling your senses in general and mind in particular. When the mind wanders during meditation (this is a common experience), the best method is to let it go without getting perturbed by the thoughts and remaining a neutral observer to our own thoughts! Gradually mind will become tired of its wandering and will settle down under your conscious control. On the other hand if we try to forcefully control the mind from swaying according to its whims, it will be almost like a spring action.....it will bounce back and fall out of our control. Mind should be controlled gradually....its thoughts should be regulated systematically...... For instance if undesirable thoughts disturb you during meditation, we should sublimate it and divert it using other desirable thoughts slowly without getting anxious about the undesirable thoughts. For instance, meditating on the glories of the Lord, thinking about Divine Leelaas, etc. will help us to divert the mind away from mundane thoughts and worries that may disturb us during meditations. Wandering thoughts, rush of ideas, sudden surge of undesirable images/ thoughts/ even uncontrollable temper, etc. are initial reactions in the lives of most saadhakaas when they start their spiritual routines. There is a procedure called "Bhoota sudhi" practised in saadhanaa circles. Learning it under an expert will definitely help in removing the "vaasanaas" (karmic imprints) that may cause these thoughts. One important point to remember is, NEVER FORCEFULLY APPLY YOUR WILL TO CONTROL THE MIND.....THIS WILL PROVE COUNTERPRODUCTIVE. Meditating on the Mother Goddess and chanting "Om Mano roopeshu gothandaayai namaha: (I salute the Mother who has the sugarcane Bow which is the personification of my own mind!) regularly with the surrendering attitude "Oh Mother! I have surrendered my mind to you.....Now, the thoughts that come out of it are yours!" will eliminate undesirable thoughts. By gradual practice of this, your mind will become a powerful tool that churns out material which will be only useful to you and never detrimental.....when you have aligned your mind with the Divine Mind, how can it ever go wrong? May Divine Mother help you in attaining control over your mind....because, control of mind and winning over its eccentricities are the first steps in spiritual advancement. Blessed be. Pandit. Guest guest
As suggested by pandit ji pranayam is the only way to meditate. breath being the only connection between body and mind. try to visualise your breath physically coming in and going out consciously .this will help--alok Try the all-new Mail .
