Guest guest
Dear Ajamila prabhu, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Thank you for your letter. > This point raised by Bhakti Vikasa Swami is very important for the well > being of the entire ISKCON Society and it would be re-assuring if those > responsible for the standard for Deity worship worldwide would act > accordingly. This is something that devotees will need to research locally as far as I am aware the food standards vary from country to country. You are quoting Tate & Lyle in the UK, but what about CSR in Australia? Or who are the major producers of sugar in the US, or South America. Not only are there different producers in each country there are also different laws governing the food industry in each country. I had a discussion with Kurma prabhu about the food codes with the idea of putting a list up on our website. He was of the opinion that it would be very difficult to compile a definitive list as there is much variation from place to place. Initially Srila Prabhupada allowed a lesser standard but in his own words his programme was to tighten the screw, or raise the standard. Surely we can raise the standard to at least not eating sugar that is contaminated by slaughtered cows meat. Jaya that is the proper conclusion
