So we dont view at things like Jains, or some mundane compassionate

religions. Last week I went to Sydney and saw at the customs they dont allow

seashells, as it is cruelity to the living entities living in the shells.

However they have a most sophisticated fish market where they pull out the

shells and sell the sea food. All double standards.

We follow guru, sadhu, and shastra. Silk is pure means silk is pure! For

all festivals I usually wear Silk.

Your humble servant,

Bhadra Govinda Dasa.

our proscess is renounciation :

vairagya-vidya-nija-bhakti-yoga-

siksartham ekah purusah puranah

sri-krsna-caitanya-sarira-dhari

krpambudhir yas tam aham prapadye

there is no harm in silk and we are not jains but vaisnavas are compassionate

too, so there is no wrong if a devotee thinks why harm the silk worms, so I

will look nice? Ok it may be for preaching. But we don't need silk to preach or

become KC , Narada Muni had a hunter disciple halfkilling animals but later

would not even kill an ant, this is the kindness of exalted vaisnavas.Srila

Prabhupada wore silk and seems to have alllowed it for preaching, however if

someone dress in silk and some poor devotee thinks I need this too to look

prestigious also, then what is the use, the 6 Goswamis or Lord Caitanya did not

wear

silk ,nor did any acaryas in our line,,..simple cotton is fine ,pure

,nonviolent .Silk smells of aristocracy and pride , I still take Jagadananda

Pandita

advise: "Do not dress luxuriously or eat opulently". But I am very happy to see

devotees look nice in silk especially on festival days , there is no harm, it

is dressing for to please Krsna. But some lady may take note also this

brahmacari or sannyasi dresses so nicely , for fully renounced persons it is

better

to not wear silk....
