Guest guest
Om sri ramanuja, Where ever i am visiting temples i am finding devotees misbeheviour instead of their bhakthi. Every where money is visible from gate keepers to pradana archakaas. Infront of murthy also the priest is dancing according to the money the devotees offering them. This is not a cheating, if they are not afraid of any one, won't they fear of even God also. Queue for free darshanam is very long and even one devotee also won't have darshnam after 2 to 3 hours. where as thousands can get darshnam with in seconds and can offer varieties of sevas infront of God by offering plenty of money to the temple's staff. They don't think of other devotees even for a while. not only these incidents there are so many which iritates every one, but no one take responsibility to correct the system. actually i won't get angry because i want to leave every with freedom even f they are doing above such things. but in temples i am not able to control my anger and i want to correct this system. can any body tell me whether my intension is correct or not namosthuthe shekar Find out what India is talking about on - Answers India Send FREE SMS to your friend's mobile from Messenger Version 8. Guest guest
I had a similar experience in Srirangam temple. Recently I had been to Srirangam for darshan. I nearly stood in the queue for more than one and half hour. Just before main Sanctum, our queue was blocked for nearly another 30 minutes and the temple staff allowed all and sundry through back door. I had the darshan of Periya Perumal just for seconds before the security and the archakas pushed me out. I could see the short cut people have been provided space to stand and have darshan for more than 10 minutes. I understood, if you have right connections, you get all facilities for darshan and if you are an ordinary devotee, you need to wait endlessly to have few seconds darshan of the lord. Guest guest
Dear swamin I was listening to some pravachanam recently. It goes like this "People who might be in Calcutta, who can take bath in Ganges flowing there every day, will go to kAsi and gayA to take bath on Ganges. Since they heard that taking bath on Ganges in kAsi and gayA is sacred and wash off their sins. If that is the case, those who stay in kAsi and gayA should not have any sins on them and should not suffer by taking rebirth. Actually the reason behind going to Ganges especially to kAsi (any tHEertHayAtrA) is if we are lucky due to God's mercy, we will meet some enlightened souls and receive their blessings towards relinquishing the attachment to these material world and realize the purpose behind one's life. This is because in the olden days that was considered important than going and touch the ganges and come back. But they put it in indirect way to force people to travel their". Similar logic is applied here also. People from Chennai near Tiruvallikeni Sri. Parthasarathy temple will go to SriRangam and pay Rs 50/- or more and have special darshanam since they cannot wait in queue to have darshan of Lord, they will justify that they have humpteen reasons to do like that. The point they miss is God is not a show piece but a being sitting and judging all our actions inside and out. Secondly the Godliness is to be exhibited not just on the side of the diety but on our side too as we are particles of him, otherwise how to communicate with him when our language is different, why there are very few pure devotees like AlwArs and when AlwArs were able to see God in stone and every thing arround them, many who serve in that same temple every day do not have an impact and tend to accept money and treat people differently. Bottom line is our bHavA due to His mercy which propels a person near to him. Otherwise, any one can be near or farer from him, and there will be no impact. Hence one should not be worried about it or affected by it. It is to be understood, that this is the level of godly qualities the persons incharge of that place of worship has. Seeing from the other angle, we need to get the temples out of the clutches of the Government. The pollution this is causing is so much that it affects those families that are for generations did pious activities to continue as Bhattars and their recent generations because of the mix doing all non-sense forgetting their ancestor's life. adiyen Ramanuja dasan Suresh --- Alwar Srinivasan <vasan682003 > wrote: > Dear Swamin > You are correct in your views but dont get angry > which may laed to unwanted incidents .You should > pity onthem since they get the curse of thousands > devotees like you. > This also gods creation .We can only try to create > the awarenes since we dont have the power to stop > such corruption > srinivasan > > shekar babu <prs_raaj (AT) (DOT) co.in> wrote: > Om sri ramanuja, > > Where ever i am visiting temples i am finding > devotees misbeheviour instead of their bhakthi. > Every where money is visible from gate keepers to > pradana archakaas. Guest guest
Dear Sekhar, Now-a-days peoples dont find time to visit and have darshan of Lord in a leisure manner. As like their busy work schedule, they want to have a quick darshan and leave the temple immediately. Only because of this, there is lot of problems in all the temples whether its a Thirupathi or any small temple. According to adiyEns' view, this trend should be changed. Everyone from the family has to visit the temple often in leisure, and spend the whole day in any divyadesam by remembering that divyadesa vaibhavam or alwars pasurams. But if you ask personally to any peoples they will tell, there is no time to spend leisure way in temples as they were engaged with some works. So, fault is not only with archkAs or temple authorities. The fault is also with the peoples coming to have darshan. The second reason is that, in the olden days, the temples ran without any financial problems due to generous offering from publics and the government. But now, the situation is worse. Except for some of the divyadesams like Sri Rangam, Thirupathi, most of the divyadesams were depending upon the donors (ubayadhArar's) of high-class peoples Hence whenever, those persons visit the corresponding temples, the archakAs has to pay their due respects to those donors. One incident happened in thirukadalmallai divyadesam (adiyEns place). While some peoples were standing in queue for darshan, one donor with his family members came to temple for darshan. Immediately, the archakAs responded them and done all upachArams and explained clearly the importance of divyadesam and offered prasAdams. By watching this, the person who stood in the line, commented that, “archakAs will do service only for rich peoples, and they are also longing for money!”. Upon hearing this, the archaka replied “They had done many kainkaryam to this temple including Utsavams, nandavanam maintenance etc.,. Hence we gave respects to them when they visit this temple. Why can't you stand for sometime?, since you came to have darshan of Lord.” The peoples has to appreciate those who done some kaimkaryams in running the temples. Adiyen requests the public to appreciate the peoples who involved in servicing the temples like sponsoring the utsavams, poojas etc., One more common incident in this divyadesam (thirukadal mallai) is that, here the temple authority used to charge for the entrance, since this (Mahabalipuram) is a tourist place. The motive behind this is that, this may helpful in running the temple for giving salaries to workers, maintenance etc.,. But when the tourists asked for the entrance tickets, immediately they will reciprocate and started commenting “why should I pay money for entering into the temple? This is very uncommon and should not be followed in temples”. Only these kind of poeples will comment, if any donors is given respects inside the temple by the archakAs. The peoples doesnt have patience in waiting in queue for some time. Always in hurried ! Hurried!! Hurried!!! Adiyen couldnt find any, and what they are going to achieve in this hurried world except having darshan of Lord? AdiyEns suggestions: Why cant we utilise the waiting time in queue for chanting his namAs or remembering his kalyAna gunAs. When adiyEn stood in a queue, adiyEn could find the peoples chatting all except about emperumAn's lilAs or nAmAs. Instead of watching around and cursing others of their misbehaviour, utilise the most valuable time in HIS place by remembering his nAmA,swaroopam or lilAs. Thank HIM for HIS grace on bringing us to have darshan during our life. A good example is that, in life of VivekAnandar, when he was a boy and resides in Ramakrishna Paramahamsar ashram, VivekAnandar was chatting with his friends. At that time, Ramakrishna Paramahamsar entered there and asked about their discussions. They replied that, they were commenting about the boy who is not good!. Immediately Ramakrishnar says that "Who is good in this world? Everyone is weak in certain issues. Thats why we took rebirth in this dark world. DONT WASTE YOUR VALUABLE TIME IN FINDING FAULT WITH OTHERS!!. Utilise by remembering the God always. Once the time lost, we cant retrieve it." Actually the peoples thronging to the temple DO NOT follows certain rules like: 1)Those who come with children's, they let their child play inside the temple premises, making sound, cry inside the sanctum. 2)Sometimes adiyEn could watch their parents bring their cellphones inside the temples. 3.Even if we see someone writing on the walls, we are least bother about the things happening. Many times when adiyEn had darshan of Sri RengaNAchiyAr at Sri Rangam, could see peoples writing (drawing?!) on the walls or pillars with the Manjal prasAdham. They dont know about the value of that prasAdham. Many times adiyEn adviced such kind of peoples and let them know the value of that. Like the above we can point out many such issues with the devotees who throng to the temples....... Finally adiyEn would advice that, please dont waste your valuable time inside the temples, as we cant go and have darshan daily in temples like Sri Rangam ,or Thirupathi, etc., REMEMBER HIM ALWAYS THANK HIM ALWAYS. Guest guest
Dear Sri Senthil, I agree with what you say regarding visiting temples at leisurely pace. This reminds me of a small incident narrated in Edu 10-2-2 kedumiDar thriuvAimohzi."kunRu sEar mADa .." Sri Parasara bhattar was just going around the Tiru-ananthapuram temple at a leisurely pace viewing the structures and beauties around. Some people were speeding -circumambulating the temple. '..allAdhArellAm viraindhu sadakkena vArA niRka, ivargaL thriumALigaigaLaiyum, thiru-k-kOpurangaLaiyum kaNNAlEa parguvAraip pOLEa.." Unlike others who just speeded and came around, Sri PiLLaith thriunaRaiyUr araiyar were strolling at a leisurely pace and staring at the divine structures and the GOpuram-s as if devouring these by their eyes. However, as regards children playing inside the temple: Children playing in temple premises is not a new thing. IN fact EmprumAn likes it. Sri Nam AzhwAr celebrates the ceaseless din of the children playing at the altars of Sri Magara nEdum kuzhai kAdhan of then tiruppEarai. '..piLLai kuzhA viLayAttOLiyum aRA then tiruppEArai' 7-3-1 of TiruvAimozhi. adiyEan dAsan vanamamalai padmanabhan - senthil b ramanuja Tuesday, October 10, 2006 9:20 AM Re: [sri ramanuja] Whether god is afraid of man? Guest guest
Dear Swamin, Quoting Edu and AzhwAr's pAsurams are always a delight for the readers. Just awesome! Thanks for such a nice way of posting. Also, I just thought I would share with other readers, my views on the very purpose of going to temples from the Sri Vaishnavic point of view. To a real Sri Vaishnavan, going to temple, whether for leisure, or for any other purpose does not matter. The simple reason being, if we go to temple, more than us it is the lord who is much more happy to see us, the mundanes (padiyAi kidandhu un pavala vAi kAnbEnE - Perumal Thirumozhi: oonaeru selvatthu!). And the lord due to sankalpam in archA, cannot come to our home just like that. So, how does it really matter what we do in temple when the lord is actually enjoying all these;) I feel that, as we take such an approach (initially-going to temple for whatever reason), eventually the very satsangham of the temple vAsIs will automatically change us. I strongly feel, for those of us who strive to become Sri VaishnavAs, that we should be more concentrating on the lord who is waiting to see our faces rather than seeing who is doing what mistake etc! (kannimaitthu kAnbAthAr kann enna kanne? - silappadhikAram: vadavarayai!) adiyEn, rAmAnuja dAsan. ramanuja, "Padmanabhan" <aazhwar wrote: > > Dear Sri Senthil, > > I agree with what you say regarding visiting temples at leisurely pace. > > This reminds me of a small incident narrated in Edu 10-2-2 > kedumiDar thriuvAimohzi."kunRu sEar mADa .." > > Sri Parasara bhattar was just going around the Tiru-ananthapuram temple at a leisurely > pace viewing the structures and beauties around. Guest guest
Dear svAmi-s, Talking of leisure: well in the 'koNDa peNdir'ThiruvAimzohi 9-1; 'mAyavan adi paravi pozhdu pogakiRkum puNmai' Here the Vyakyanam states that, those who fall at the feet of the Lord have a blemish. Can there be a blemish in falling at the feet of the EmperumAn? Well, persons who just spend time and fall at the feet of the Lord as a pastime are faulted here. There is an opinion that instead of being detracted in other distractions, a person spends time at the feet of the Lord,it is apprecaible. However, if the prupose itself is to spend time? Then the whole exercise is futile. This is the blemish highlighted by mARAn in this pAsuram being the eighth pAsuram of the first thiruvAimozhi of the ninth ten perhpas adiyean is also being accused of this while writing of Emperuman in this groups? dasan vanamamalai padmanabhan
Guest guest
Dear Swami, 'mAyavan adi paravi pozhdu pogakiRkum puNmai' clearly means that one should not spend time at lord's feet for leisure. At the same time, tt must definitely be noted that once we are at the feet of lord, whether we do that intentionally or unintentionally being irrelevant, bhagavAn krupai falls on us and we start attaining gnyanam of our Atma-swaroopam. And our swaroopam is bhAgavatha kainkaryam. So, after falling at his feet, benefitted with athma gnyanam, if one, instead of performing bhAgavatha kainkaryam, spends his/her time enjoying at lord's feet, it is definitely futile. mAmunigal's kovil thiruvaimozhi for koNdapeNdir pathigam says(third line being the wonder line): koNdapeNdir thAm mudhalAk kURum utRAr * kanmatthAl aNdinavarenRE avaRaivittu * - "thoNdarudan sErkkum" thirumAlaich chErumenRAn * Arkkum idham pArkkum pugazh mARan paNdu And, as everyone knows in this forum, devarIr's writings, clarifies and gives insight of, so many pUrvAchArya granthams, which undoubtedly purifies many mundane minds as that of mine - clearly a bhAgavatha kainkaryam! So, how could you consider yourself being accused of any such thing:)? apologies for mistakes, adiyEn, rAmAnuja dAsan. ramanuja, "Padmanabhan" <aazhwar wrote: > > Dear svAmi-s, > Talking of leisure: well in the 'koNDa peNdir'ThiruvAimzohi 9-1; > 'mAyavan adi paravi pozhdu pogakiRkum puNmai' > > Here the Vyakyanam states that, those who fall at the feet of the Lord have a blemish. Guest guest
Dear Swamin: Adiyen hopes, the word leisure doesn't matches with "spending time" or "pass time". Adiyen wants to point out, have darshan at temples in free time (not time pass) so that no need to rush up and disturb the other peoples. adiyEn, senthil.b ramanuja, "Padmanabhan" <aazhwar wrote: > > Dear svAmi-s, > Talking of leisure: well in the 'koNDa peNdir'ThiruvAimzohi 9-1; > 'mAyavan adi paravi pozhdu pogakiRkum puNmai' > > Here the Vyakyanam states that, those who fall at the feet of the Lord have a blemish. Guest guest
Dear Mukundhan swamy, You are right, every body is facing this type of situation in every temple. Can't we find a better a solution for this. whether temple staff is meant for all devotees or rich devotees. are'nt they afraid of God. Kindly give necessary solutions to implement the present system. namosthuthe shekar Mukundhan <mukund.1999 > wrote: I had a similar experience in Srirangam temple.
