1.Who is Kali?

For those of you who have a Kali puja book, could you please read the

introduction and share any ideas you have with the group. Even if you don't have a

book you can also share your ideas about Kali.

Dear Parvati ~ ah, well...I must have misread the initial post about the

class, as I thought it was starting on the 20th. So I don't have the book yet,

but I have ordered it and am looking forward to it arriving soon. So ... the

question. My first impression of Kali was from a darling drawing that my niece

did when she was very little. It was a beautiful drawing; she was very good

even then. Kali was swaying, a lovely dance, her tongue was hanging out, and

she was brandishing all her weapons. Yet the feeling I had was one of wonder

and protection. Of course, I already knew Kali by name and a bit about Her,

but this picture seemed to bring her alive. If I can get my sister to email me

a copy, I will put it in the photo section for everyone to see.

Then I learned more about Kali through the Chandi. I know that Kali is the

remover of darkness, wherever it is, and that She is the Remover of Ego. In

this sense, Kali is our Friend because, well, at least I could use a good ego

vacuuming periodically. I know that the pain and anguish I am going though over

the breakup with my husband is attachment in disguise, and I invite Kali to

come and cut off my head (ego). This is probably the most perfect time in my

life to be learning about Kali. Jai Kali Ma! ~ Linda P.S. Is the Kali Puja

class also an online class. I believe I am a bit confused about how this one

is being conducted.
