Vrindavan
Is it very important for devotees to wear dhoti ? Frankly speaking, i still prefer pants over dhoti. Please explain, thanks
theist
No it's not. Perhaps in the context of temple life it is more important. Srila says that "Indian dress and cooking styles are not very important." So we should not exagerate these things. I was a scoundrel when I put on a dhoti just like I am a scoundrel when I wear a pair of Khakis. It takes more than just changing cloth to become holy in the sight of God. That requires purity of heart.
