Guest guest
Help renovate ISKCON Mayapur! ============================= An appeal submitted by HH Bhakti Purushottama Swami Tuesday, October 10, 2006 Dear devotees, friends and well-wishers, Please accept our respects. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. As you know, since more than ten days, Sri Mayapur has been severely flooded with more than 70,000 people in about 40 villages adversely affected by this flood. With the limited funds and resources at hand, and with the help of generous donors, we at ISKCON Mayapur were able to distribute prasada and offer medical assistance to the people despite our facilities being damaged. Now that the water has receded, the next step is to renovate ISKCON Mayapur’s own facilities which have been severely damaged. To give you an idea of the extent of renovation that needs to be done, I am sharing with you a list of how much we need in order to renovate the most damaged areas of ISKCON Mayapur: Facilities damaged and amount needed to renovate ================================================ Parks and gardens * "Prabhupada park", the "Lotus park" and gardens Rs. 1,00,000 Prabhupada Pushpa-samadhi * Garden: Rs. 40,000 * Kitchen: Rs. 20,000 * Auditorium: Rs. 20,000 * Ashram for brahmacharis serving at the Samadhi and storeroom: Rs. 40,000 TOTAL: Rs. 1,20,000 Deity department * Deity dress room, kitchen, temple room and storeroom: Rs. 1,00,000 * Painting the entire temple room: Rs. 1,50,000 TOTAL: Rs. 2,50,000 Dharmasalas * Gauranga Kutir, Nityananda Kutir, Gaura-Nitai Dharmasala and Hare Krishna Dharmasala provide economic accommodation for pilgrims. There has been a lot of infrastructural damage in these dharmasalas: Rs. 1,00,000 Guest Houses * Gardens and parks: Rs. 1,00,000 * Infrastructure: Rs. 50,000 TOTAL: Rs. 1,50,000 ---- GRAND TOTAL: Rs. 7,20,000 ---- Because of the flood, there is also a shortage of tourists which may lead to ISKCON Mayapur suffering financially. We need to renovate Mayapur as soon as possible because winter is approaching very soon and then the Gaura-purnima international festival is to take place with the participation of devotees visiting from all parts of the world. At this critical juncture we can’t help but ask the devotees and our friends to help us with the much needed renovation so that we can remake Mayapur into an attractive and spiritual inspiring place of pilgrimage to the Vaishnavas.
