Guest guest
Kali puja class Day 7- pages 61-71 Prana Pratishtha (establishment of life) Dear All, I hope you have all had a chance to look over the establishment of the pot. Now we will put our prana or life force into the pot. Page 61 Sthiri karana(establishment of stillness) Sthiri karana is the cause of stilness. We say to Her "Please don't move so long as I worship you. Recite the mantra. (om sarvatiirthamayam vaari.......) Lelihana mudra(sticking out, pointing baby finger) Place thumb of right hand on space at base of ring finger. Fold fingers over and stick out your baby finger and point it towards the pot. Then recite the mantra: staam sthiim sthiro......... We are praying to our pot of consciousness to be still in the gross body, the subtle body and the causal body. The pot is the perfect reflection of what is going on inside us. If the consciousness in the pot is not still then how can I be still? Page 62-63 prana pratishtha (establishment of life) Now we are going to add life to our pot. Take a flower and as you recite the mantra you will bring the flower towards your heart. When you finish the mantra you will blow your prana onto the pot. There are four offerings of prana here. You will repeat this action 4 times using the same flower. Each time you bring the flower to your heart, then blow on the coconut. After the fourth offering you will give that flower to the base or feet of the pot. 1. om am aam hriim......prana iha pranah (blow prana) The mantra says: You are the life of this life 2. om am aam hriim.....jiva iha sthitah (blow prana) The mantra says: You are situated in this life or individual consciousness. 3. om am aam hriim......sarevendriyani (blow prana) The mantra says: You are all of these organs of action and knowledge 4. om am aam hriim......vaag manastvakcaksuh strotra ghraana ihaagatya sukham ciram tisthantu (blow prana and give flower) The mantra says: You are all these vibrations, mind, sound, eyes, ears, tongue, nose and life force. Bring forth infinite peace and establish it forever. I am One with God! Pages 64-66 Establishment of Kali's bij mantra in hands and body Follow directions in the puja book. page 66 Establishment of bij mantras in various parts of the body Use tattwa mudra (thumb touches space at the base of ring finger.) Page 67 Japa Recite Kali's mantra 108 times Prana pratistha sukta (Hymm of the establishment of life) Now you will recite or sing these mantras to your Kailash or pot. Swamiji says that anytime you give life to a deity, the fire, a pot, you can recite this hymm. Remember that our smiling coconut is a form of divinity that we made manifest. It is a container of our love and devotion and within this pot everything is contained. The very presence of our pot smiling at us, is a reminder of divinity and it serves to inspire us towards greater love and devotion. One part of the hymm says: "Within you are all the pilgrimage places. All the Gods are situated within you. All existence is established within you. All life is established within you." So we do not have to go anywhere. As Swamiji said: Just sit with your Kailash. Be in the presence of God made manifest." Everybody, enjoy your Deity!! Thus ends Day 7 of the Kali puja class.
