Howdy!

I was wondering if this Tradition has a body of teaching concerning

prana kriya practices like alternate nostril breathing. Would it be

proper to practice alternate nostril breathing timed to the silent

recitation of the Kali Mantra, with four recitations for each round:

inhalation, hold, exhalation, hold?

Thanks!

Hi Ken,

I hope it's ok if I respond to this.

The answer is yes. Though I don't recall any specific teaching from

Swamiji on alternate nostril breathing, called nadi shodhanam or nadi

shuddhi, the Devi Gita teaches the benefits of pranayama and specifies

the practice of 1:4:2 pranayama. Alternating the nostrils is mearly a

refinement of this basic technique.

Chris,

Thanks! The time has come for me to get a copy of the Devi Gita for myself to study.

Hi Ken,

Actually, I don't have it yet, either. I just listened to the online

class Swamiji recorded on it. Until you do get it, I can recommend the

class very highly.
