They have abilities to hide their identity (disappear) or change their appearance (kama rupa) before their devotees. It all depends on strong bondage exist between God and devotee. They also have physical voice (which can be heard with our physical ears) and they speak all languages including English. They speak English language with Indian accent. Even though people have given Him many names on the path of devotion, still incorporeal God is called Shiva. It is because there are so many names that there is so much expansion. The Father Himself comes and tells you; Oh Children, you have been remembering Me, your Father Shiva.. The Creator is only one. If there were many names, people would become confused. For instance, if your name is Pushpa, and someone calls you Sheila, would you respond? No! you would think that that person is calling someone else. This is the same, He has just one name, but because the path of devotion and because they have built many temples, they have given many different names. Otherwise each one has only one name(19-03-2001). Shiva doesnt have a body of his own. There is just one image of Shiva. It cannot be any different; he is always portrayed as an oval (lingam) form. God Fathers name is always Shiva. All souls have to come down here to play their different roles and so they adopt different names (29-11-1999). God has only one name. The names of all others change. His name doesnt change. However, He has been given many names on the path of bhakti. Here He is called Shiva, Shiva means Benefactor (03-06-2000).
