Guest guest
Of In-laws and Out-laws This is one of the excellent articles of Sri Sadagopan Iyengar Swamin! It is really amazing how he excels himself every time he posts an article. ---- The following is only an “aside” - a reflection on the subject - all in a lighter vein. As I see it, in the U.S.A. today it is not so much a cold war between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law (which sometimes gets heated up to a boiling point) but the one between Mother-in-law and son-in-law! This has become almost proverbial in this country. Why polygamy is not encouraged (publicly)? Answer: It is because the poor fellow will have two mothers-in-law, too much for the guy to handle unless of course he marries the daughters of the same mother! Another joke runs as follows: Can you illustrate a case of “Mixed feelings”? Answer: The son-in-law is watching his mother-in-law driving his expensive brand new car reaching up to the top of a cliff with a sure prognosis of a free fall in the deep ravine on the other side. The guy feels “happy” because he can be sure of an end to the old lady but “sorry” at the same time because of the impending grim prospect of wrecking his beloved car in an inevitable crash! An example of “mixed feelings” of joy and sorrow all at once! ======================================================================
