Guest guest
Dayamrita's robe is the orange of sherbert, or goldenrod yellow. When I've been through the fabric store, I've noticed that the goldenrod yellow of bramachari's can look like a pastel orange in certain light. It's a traditional color of "celibate students" of the guru. From Bramachari, they can go on to get married if they want. People normally use the word "swami" to refer to sannyasins, or "renunciates" but in the latter is usually in a formal way, such as meeting a stranger-renunciate before you know their name. Much of DC's materials, including the website and their text in the Tour brochure suggests they're in their own world. They still refer to Atma Puja as Devi Puja, they call Dayamrita a "senior disciple" (opinion-supported only), and their page on Immortal Bliss Subscription is actually signed, "Swami Dayamrita Chaitanya" http://www.ammadc.org/immortalblissArt.asp Just because a village calls their resident swami "Mahatma", doesn't mean he or she is. tom Ammachi, Sweta Mitzel <swetabc wrote: > > Om Namah Shivaya, > > Amma, as our Kali-Ma, does a great job of putting in check our power hungry egoes. Kali is sure to be slaughtering Swami Dayamrita's ego, as She's placed him in a position so close to Her. He must be grateful for this, since losing the ego is what's needed for God-Realization. It's my understanding that Amma gives the orange robe to persons who've reached a level of spiritual development, so that none of their prayers are selfish. That level sounds like one that is ready to at least try to offer up the ego. This is offered as a reality check, in response to your post, Tom. God doesn't view people as do most of us, but sees our hearts. I'm sure Amma sees us in the same way. > > Sweta >
