Guest guest
The Gravy train as they call it in the western hemisphere can stop! Most of the recent problems on this list in the last 12 months had been because of unmoderated entrance! Pretty much anyone could enter and eventually create their fiasco and disrupt the seriousness of this forum which has been focusing on the following in the last few years that I have experienced it: Technical exploration of astrology (all avenues except that of Chowdhri) Astroremedies of all kinds, taken on their face value without proof or feedback! Casual postings from drifters-in like the recent mess I responded to! I propose that at this point what must be moderated is "who joins this club" And any who have sneaked in and show their disruptive teeth must be dealt with forcefully as in the recent past! Only in an environment of peace and silence can we really learn and grow in astrology! RR SURRENDER JOYFULLY TO THE WILL OF THE ULTIMATE DIVINITY AND RELISH THE TASTE OF ABSOLUTE BLISS. Guest guest
My interest in this topic has only begun earlier this year. I was very pleased when a friend suggested that I join this group. I purchased many books and started to dig in. On a daily basis, I started reading all the posts and trying to pick up tidbits to supplement my knowledge. Occasionally I would post a comment or query. Sometimes I got a response and sometimes I have not. At times, I think my queries were misconstrued as looking for quick answers. However, that did not deter me as I understand and respect the experienced members' time. And I also understand the nature of a *free* on-line community. It did not take long for me to become disheartened by the state of affairs. I no longer view on a daily basis and rarely even open the messages unless I recognize the author and the topic seems like it will have some depth. 95% of the topics revolve around career and marriage. Not that this is necessarily bad, but it I not what I am looking for. The demographics of this group might be as follows, 2-3% experienced jyotishis, 10% students and aspiring jyotishis and the remaining 87% is looking for free advice and answers to support what they already think. And then there is the malicious minded who are looking for free advice to support their own consulting practice. Once again, not that is always bad, peer to peer dialogue is important, it is when it is done on the sly that it is improper. I am not sure what the solution is, maybe what RR suggests, but I know in the mean time, I have been searching in other pastures. Sure, I will continue to stop by now and then, but the thrill is gone. Anyway, too much gravy is bad for one's health. Experienced, no, but a serious student, yes.
